Drunken Stampers Christmas card swap part II

Hello peeps and happy Friday! I have a few more cards to share from our first ever Drunken Stampers Christmas card swap.

First up today is the card I made for Diane:

This was based on DD Wanna Sketch #11. The paper collection has that cool border on some of the paper, and the green border was already embossed. The deer and inside sentiment were stamped in Rich Cocoa and I used red glitter embossing powder for the sentiment on the front. Loved how that worked out!

This second card is the one I sent to Barbara:

It's hard to see in the photo, but the beige panel is embossed with snowflakes. I saw the Glowing lights tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers and had to try it out. This was the first of two cards I made using this technique. I had so mush fun making this card, I made another similar one to send to a family member!

I've been making cards using the chalkboard technique more and more. I just think it's such a cool look and it's soooo easy to do! I used four sentiment stamps total from the same set. Some flowers and rhinestones from my stash finish it off nicely.

Shopping Our Stash #135 - Winter Blues - use the color blue as your primary color

Hello and good morning friends! It's Tuesday and that means it's another fun challenge at Shopping Our Stash! This week it's to use the color blue as your primary color. It doesn't have to be winter themed, whatever floats your boat works for us! Here's what I came up with:

I gotta say, I LOVE how this card came out! Love it I tell ya! It's all girly and pretty and blingy and sparkly! The stamp is one I purchased last year when it was released, but as usual, it didn't see ink until now. The papers are all very old. The only one I know the manufacture of is the floral one (HOTP - from 2003!!) The light blue polka dot and the dark blue with that fabulous texture I've no idea who they are from, but they are at least 6 yrs old if not older. I even broke out the Stickles and used it on her wings, feather choker (?), and her 'crown' and antennae.  As if that wasn't enough sparkle, I added pieces of rhinestone/pearl swirls. (You know those big swirls that Prima makes? Well, I tend to cut pieces of them and use here and there, instead of the whole swirl. Why? I'm not sure. Why not?)  Here's a close up of Ivy showing off her sparkle:

On the inside, I used more of the blue papers. I stamped Happy Birthday, then did a little masking with another sentiment so that I stamped only the word beautiful from it. And that is that! As much as I want to keep petting this card, it's going in the mail to one of my nieces for her birthday.

Thump....

Have you ever found yourself thinking about card designs in the middle of the night, while lying in bed, because you can't sleep? Yeah, I suffer from insomnia, so it happens to me a lot. This is a card I thought about the other night. I made it, but I thought there was too much white, so I made another one. Much happier. Here's the result:

So, as I lay in bed, thinking about cards, I remembered I have the Borders 1 dies, which has the heart beat die included. Since Valentine's Day approaches, I figured I'd jump on the band wagon and make a Valentine's card for the hubby using that die. Then I started thinking about the stamp sentiments that would go with it. I remembered the thump sentiment and I swear I almost got up then and there to make the card. Almost. But I was nice and toasty warm under the covers and didn't want to leave my cocoon of blankets! LOL! And that first card? Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

See? Too much white. Anywhoooooo, that's it for now. Oh, and I'm entering this in the Paper Smooches Sparks - Anything Goes challenge.

Drunken Stampers Christmas card swap, part 1

Good Morning to you all! Well, I thought it was long past due to share the cards I made for my teammies for our first Drunken Stampers card swap! I'll be posting a few per post here and there. Here is the first batch:

Yep. I made a card with Rudolph farting. LOL! I know, I'm not right in the head! My little scene was based on the inside sentiment. (Bet you won't think about that Christmas carol the same way again! HA!) This is the card I made for my evil doublemint twin, Jessi. I think I scored major points from her boys for this card! ☺ I stamped and colored the deer with SN markers. I also stamped the legs of the deer on some scrap paper, fussy cut out, and used as a mask so that I could stamp the shadow. I used the explosion stamp from the Great Chemistry set for the, ahem, gas. (Explosion indeed!) Added the alpha stickers to finish the front. The inside sentiment was printed off my computer then I stamped Merry Christmas under it. This was such a perfect card for my family, that I made two of them, and sent the other one to my brother Jim!

I'm going to enter this card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge: Anything Goes.

Ok, so on to my next card. This one I made for Donna. She collects all things skulls, so of course I made a Santa skull card!

I heat embossed the skull on a white panel, framed it with some red DP, and doodled around the edges before adhering it to the card base. I've had these Santa hat stickers in my stash for at least a couple years, and this one fit the  skull perfectly! I stamped the inside and was done!

This last card I sent to Lynne. She excels at all thing crafty!

When I made this card, it was based on a sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch. I love that cute little snowman! He's colored with Spectrum Noir markers, then I added Stickles to him and his shadow for a bit of sparkle. The strip of red card stock was dry embossed before being adhered. That snowflake is a sticker that I found in my stash. Score!

Simon Says Stamp has an embossing challenge going on at their Wednesday challenge blog, so I'm entering these two cards over there.

Happy Birthday Rocker.....

Happy Thursday to you all! I'm sharing a card I made for one of my nephews using Retro Sketches #97:

I am finding it hard to come up with ideas for cards to make for my nephews that, except for one that's 25 and one that's 14, are all turning 19 this year. They're not quite ready for the drinking themed cards, but too old for the cutie/sugary cards. (Yep, three nephews and one niece turning 19. Apparently, that year was a very fertile year for both sides of our families. HA!) 

So, since I see the kids in the hood always walking around with ear buds in their ears, I went with a music themed card. (Sometimes I get a treat and one of them is also singing/rapping as they walk. That's when I usually burst out laughing. And I can do that, because they are singing/rapping so loud that they can't hear me laughing at them! One of the 'perks' of being older! LOL!)

I picked that chevron paper because a) to me the colors were gender neutral, and b) I thought they were sort of like radio waves, but in an artsy fartsy way. I used the negative die cut of the bam bubble, stamped, colored and fussy cut the iPod and adhered using foam squares, after stamping the sentiment first. Another sentiment finishes the inside.

Good morning peeps! I want to share a card I made based on sketch #56 from the CAS-Colours and Sketches blog:

When I saw this sketch, I kept thinking about a big pile of presents in the bottom corner. When I was looking through my stamps sets, I saw this cute doggie and immediately knew that pile of presents would become a pile of bones - a perfect birthday gift for that little guy! LOL! (Wish big indeed!) I made a handful of masks and kept moving them around as I stamped the pile. Colored the doggie and added shading to the bones with my Spectrum Noir markers, stamped the sentiment, finished the inside, and was done!

That's it for now. It's a rainy day here today (but warm, so I'll put up with the rain!) I should get some more housework done...but I'll most likely be coloring more images instead. (Hey, the housework isn't going anywhere.) ☺Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day today!

Shopping Our Stash #134: Miss You

Hello and happy Tuesday my peeps! It's time for new challenge at Shopping Our Stash! This week's challenge is to make a card or project for someone you miss! We all have family and friends across the miles that we don't get to see as often as we would like. Perhaps you know someone in the armed forces that is currently deployed overseas. Well, this is the perfect challenge for you to make a card to let them know how much you miss them!

All the paper I used is from the Green Stack from DCWV (the original one, from 2008!) Go me! I did some fussy cutting and popped the beaver, snail and flower on foam squares to give some dimension to those elements. On the center part of the flower, I used some glitter glue to add some sparkle. A couple sentiments stamped and this card was done! So easy, and look how stinkin cute it looks! (If I do say so myself!)

Hello and happy Sunday to you all! I'm hoping that I can get through this post before Blogger crashes it. Seriously, they need to get their heads out of their *sses and fix all the problems. Pronto! Ok, I'm off the soapbox now. ;)

It's been a while since I've made a snarky card, so last night I fixed that issue! Here's a card I made for the (almost not) current Freshly Made Sketch #118:

See? Snarky. And. I. Love. It! LOL! Yes, I have someone in mind to send this to - my BIL, who's birthday is coming up. I was blessed with in-laws that share the same sarcastic sense of humor as my family. My card has an "Old" theme about it, from the antique car, the DP (the green showcasing magical elixirs and the red with clocks), the inside sentiment (one of my all time favorite stamps! HA!), to the distressed edges. Yep, I know. I'm not right in the head. (Who wants to be normal anyway?)

Hi peeps! TGIF! I want to share a card I made for Color Throwdown #274:

Went with a CAS design this time around, and I used schtuff from my stash! woo hoo! I die cut the feathers from scraps of blue DP. I finally used some burlap on a card. (Yeah, I seem to take my time using things that are 'on trend'. I realized that I don't have to have the 'newest thing' to be happy with my paper crafting. It's less stressful that way. ☺) It was die cut using a deckled rectangle nestie to give it an uneven edge. (It cut like buttah!) Some floss, a brad, and a simple sentiment finished it off.  

Hey, look at that. I used some Paper Smooches stamps, so I'll throw my hat into the ring that is the current Sparks Challenge - anything goes.
