SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #187 - T is for Texture

 Hello and welcome snarky peeps!
It's time once again for the new challenge at the
This fortnight is brought to you by the letter T:
as in TEXTURE!
I dug out the only 3D embossing folder I own to make
this very pretty, non snarky card:

(Yes, Jennifer McGuire had a major influence on this! Thank you!)
I used some teal mirror paper with the EF for the background. The
solid die cut of the butterfly received a thin coating of crackle paste, the
intricate die cut was cut from black card stock then coated with White
Blizzard Nuvo Glitter Drops, which picked up the teal card
brilliantly IRL! I used a Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker for the sentiment.

I did manage to stamp a sentiment on the inside and added a
snippet of the teal paper to finish it off.

See? Snark isn't mandatory at the Sisterhood,
(but you know we LOVE it!)

I hope that you find some time to play along in our Texture challenge at the
Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! For more inspiration, do check out what
my Sistahs and our reigning Queen, Tristan, have created to wow you!

Hello and welcome snarky peeps!

If you don't know what that is, it's an Artist Trading Card/Coin.

than I thought it would. LOL!

I hope that you find some time this fortnight to play along in our ATC

challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

Shimmery snowflakes

Hello crafty friends! I had some play time up in the craft room,
and decided to use a die that I bought last month but hadn't used yet.

...well, the main panel is all shimmery, that is:

and the inside:

I made a bunch of water color-y backgrounds last year, and one of my goals this
year is to actually use them. This one is Dylusions spray inks, then pearl Glimmer Mist
over that, on mixed media paper. I edged the main panel with some black card stock strips
to make it pop more. A simple sentiment and some star shaped rhinestones in the
center of all the snowflakes finishes this card.

This card was fitting as we had our first decent snow fall yesterday. Ok, maybe it
was only about 2", but it was enough to delay school openings.
Being originally from and growing up in Illinois, I still find this completely hilarious.
(Perhaps more like ridiculous.) As a kid, if the schools closed for a snow day, it would
have had to snow at least a foot before closing was even considered. LOL!

That's all for now. Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #147 - T is for Tea

Hello and happy Saturday to you.
Today starts the new challenge at the
SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS, and it happens to be
about my second favorite drink of choice,
T is for TEA!

As I'm wont to do, I've used a meme as my inspiration for this
art journal page:

I'm usually on the ball and take step by step pictures as my tutorial,
but I got into the painty, crakle paste, messy part and totally forgot
about taking pictures from the beginning. So, here are
a few that I remembered to take along the way:

I was thinking soft colors paired with a stencil that sort of looked
like a lace tablecloth.

I couldn't find a teacup stamp large enough for what I needed so
free clip art to the rescue! Note that I went over most of all the
gold parts on the teacup and saucer with a gold Gelly Roll pen:

To add to the 'vintage' vibe I wanted, I used crackle paste with the stencil:

The sentiment was typed and printed from my computer.
(Sometimes you just have to make your own sentiment. Instant digi stamp!)

One more look at the finished page:

I hope that you find some time to play along in our Tea challenge
at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! We'd love to see your take on it.
Need more ideas? Simply check out what my Sisters, and our
returning Queen and GD, Laura, have made for your viewing pleasure!
Thanks for hanging out. Have a great day!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #391 - Best Friends Day

Hello and welcome crafty friends!
This fortnight at SHOPPING OUR STASH we are
celebrating our best friends!

I really shopped my stash, and uncovered this stamp set
that had never seen ink! It's got to be at least 7 years old.
(***cough hoarder cough***)
Here's my take:

She is so cute! And bonus, that sentiment came with the set. I had that bit
of butterfly paper left so I based my coloring from it, using Spectrum Noir
markers. She's fussy cut and popped up on foam squares, as is the sentiment.
It's hard to see in this photo, but the barrette, beads, belt, bow and shoes have all been
winked by Stella. A few rhinestones and done!

I hope that you find some time to play along in our Best Friends challenge
at Shopping Our Stash! We'd love to see your projects.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope that you have a great day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #126 - B is for Books

 Hello and welcome snarky peeps!
The SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS is back from their
holiday break, and raring to go this year!
The first challenge of 2019 is something near and dear to my heart:
B is for Books!
For my card, I used a new (to me) die from Lawn Fawn called Double Slider Surprise.
You pull the tab and....

Ta-da!

If you watch the how-to video, you'll discover that the item used to make
the slider mechanism work is a poop bag! Once it was assembled
I attached it to a standard A2 card base, and stamped
another book related sentiment on the inside.

I hope that you find some time to join in our Book challenge at the
Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! We'd love to see your take on it. Need
more ideas? Do yourself a favor and check out what my Sistahs, and
our newest Queen and GD - Cornelia, have created for your viewing pleasure.
Thanks for visiting. Have a fantastic day!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #383 - Happy Birthday Dude!

 Hello and welcome crafty friends!
Donna is your hostess this week at
SHOPPING OUR STASH and she's thrown a curve ball right
in the midst of the Christmas-card-making-frenzy.
This week we want to see your birthday cards for the men in your lives!

Here's what I came up with:

here's the inside:

I did have help with my design, as I cased this card while perusing
Pinterest for ideas. (Not sure who made it as the link takes me
to a web store that sells the stamps, not the artist, so thank you
whomever you are!) I've had these tree stamps for at least a couple years, and
I think this may only be the second time using them. Glad I rediscovered
them while searching for something else, because I want to make a
bunch more cards like this now. LOL!

So now it's your turn. Put a brief hold on those holiday cards and
create a birthday card for a guy! Be sure to link up at
Shopping Our Stash so we may admire it! For more fabulous
male-themed cards, please do visit my teammies to see what
they've come up with.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

I Ain't Got No...Body

Hello peeps and happy Wednesday to you!
I was working on a mixed media canvas the last few days
and finally finished it.
Still in the Halloween mood, of course,
as it's my favorite holiday. Take a look:

Here are a few process pics. I prepped the canvas with gesso, and once dry
added the music sheet paper with matte medium. I got into playing and forgot
to take pics of that first. LOL!
Next layer was the skull stencil with crackle paste and the snakeskin stecil
with modeling paste. I added some texture sand paste randomly around the
edges once the stencil layer was dry.

Added a wash of Paynes Grey around skull.

Then Primary Yellow and more Paynes Grey over that.

Next I went over the entire canvas with Quinacridrone Gold,
blotting some back with a baby wipe, especially on the skull.
I wanted it to look aged, but not too orange.
I swiped a Jet Black Staz On ink pad over the snakeskin stencil to bring
the texture out more, and also around the canvas edges.

The sentiment? Well that was what inspired this canvas.
And it was my husband's idea!
We have this big skull sitting on the stair landing, and he
just started singing "I ain't got no body." After laughing
our asses off, I said that was brilliant and I needed to
make a punny skull project!

I used alpha stamps to stamp the sentiment on white card stock,
then aged it with tan and brown sponged ink. Also stamped some
texture using gray ink.
That was applied with matte medium. Once dry I sealed it with
matte varnish.
I added the flowers to ground my skull and that was it!

You made it to the end of my post! Yay!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a fabulous day!
