DCWV July Stack-a-holic card challenge

Hi there. I made a card for the card challenge of DCWV's July Stack-a-holic challenge. I started out as a scrapbooker. But ever since I made my first card, I've been obsessed with card making! So if I only do one layout a month, it's usually for the stack-a-holic challenge. I am so glad they started the card portion though!

Here is the inside:

...and the sketch:

All card stock and DP is from DCWV. I used the Linen Closet stack. The stamps are from Inkadinkado (Birthday Wishes) and Hero Arts (sending you...) and stamped in Rich Cocoa by Tsukineko. The cord is from Darice; the button from my stash and the punch from Fiskars. I used my Grand Calibur and some Nest-abilities dies for the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and if you want to play along with this challenge, you have until tomorrow to submit your entry. (Yeah, I know, I'm waiting until the last moment...as usual!) Have a great day!

Riddikulus!!

Hey all! Today I'm posting a layout that I made for the DCWV July Stack-a-holic challenge.

Here is the sketch:

Yep, that's right. Andy and I dressed up as Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood a few years back for Halloween. We didn't even go to a party. Just wanted to dress up and hand out candy to the kids! We had a blast!

I used DCWV card stock and the Simply Autumn stack for this layout. I fussy cut a leaf and pumpkin from some of the paper and added them at the bottom right. There's even a page of tags to use in this stack and I used a few of them (the pumpkin, the journalling tag that I cut with decorative scissors, and the acorn which I cut out using a scalloped die from Spellbinders.) I used a craft twinkles writer from DecoArt to add some sparkle to the pumpkin and the green banner. I also embossed the large green banner with leaves and sanded the design to make it stand out. The alphas are from Sticko. I only had one 'U' left so I took a 'C' and turned it on it's side. It was like MAGIC! LOL! And "Riddikulus?" That, my friends, is one of the MANY spells that Harry and Luna used! (plus we looked pretty ridiculous...that too! LOL!)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of the day!

Mantastic!

Hey all! We actually had a beeaaauuutttiiifffuuulll day today! And I was out with my fur baby for most of it. Pure happiness!

Ok, so there is no way I can segway into my card. (You'll see why!) I'm entering this in the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge #163.

and the inside:

Here is the sketch:

I'm so loving this stamp set by Totally Stampalicious! Gus is awesome! I embossed him in black EP from Inkadinkado (sorry, it looks like he's outlined in gray) and colored him with Marvy Uchida markers. DP is from LYB - Generation Z. I used an embossing folder from Cuttlebug on the kraft paper (Recollections). Both of the ribbon are from May Arts; the inner tube is a sticker from Jolee's Boutique. I'm not sure where the tag is from that I stamped 'Mantastic' on.

I'm sending this to my brother for his birthday next week. He'll be wanting to kick my butt! LOL! Too bad he lives 800 miles away! Hahahaha!

Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

It's wine time!

Happy Monday! (Ugh!) Ok, maybe this card will "cheer" you up:

the inside:

Super CAS and straight to the point! LOL! The black base is from Bazzill, the 'saffron' from The Paper Co. DP is from MME - Everyday Tango. Stamps are from Unity's July 2012 KOM. I used embossing powder from Stampendous as the mustard color. I thought it needed just a little more so I used a Fiskars corner punch on two of the corners. When the card is closed, the red shows through the punched corners - cool!

Here are the challenges I'm entering this card for:

Color Throwdown #201:

Freshly Made Sketch challenge #44:

and for CAS-ual Friday's challenge #62: to use a black card base for your card.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a fantastic day!

Here we grow again!

Hi there. This is my second post today. I'm entering this in the Mojo Monday challenge # 250 and for Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades challenge.

the inside:

and the challenge/sketch:

I'm not too happy with the way the embossing came out. I tapped the excess off but when I started heating it, some of the powder blew off and immediately melted. Grrrrr! Oh well, I'm gonna just say I meant to do that - there are no mistakes when creating! LOL!

I used the Paper Smooches Pip Squeaks set again on this card. It's too stinkin' cute! I used paper from Echo  Park (yellow) and KI Memories (blue flowers). The blue paper is scrap from I'm not sure. I made a little tag and used some Doodlebug baker's twine to finish it off.

My best friend is expecting and this card is for her. I'm beyond excited for her and her husband! She's gonna make an excellent Mom!

Hope your day has been relaxing! Thanks for stopping by!

Double the fun!

Hi all. This is one of two posts today. This is for the ISpy Sketch challenge #25.

the inside:

and the sketch:

The stamps are from Paper Smooches Pip Squeaks set and I used alot of them on this card. I embossed in black on both blue and pink card stock, then cut out hearts with my Slice die cut machine. I used my Sew-Easy from We R Memory Keepers and embroidered a frame then stamped the sentiment. Embossed, colored and cut two babies and adhered all with foam squares.

I made this card for my niece and nephew who are expecting twins, a boy and a girl! Yeah! I'm so excited for them!

Thanks for stopping by. Post two will be up shortly. Have a great day!

50 Shades...

Hello! Have you ever been inspired by a book to make a card? Here is what I dreamed up. I'm entering this for the CAS-ual Friday's challenge #61.

and the inside:

I know! I'm not right in the head! LOL! This is the challenge:

How fitting is that! Buahahaha! Actually, it's to use strips of paper on your card. I used scraps of gray card stock and layered them unevenly onto a card stock base, drew stitching along all edges and glued to card base. I used a heart stamp that was part of my winnings a few weeks ago from Unity's Friends With Flair challenge and embossed onto a red card stock scrap, then filled in with Glossy Accents. The wings I cut using my Slice die cut machine, and finished with some baker's twine from Doodlebug. I used an alphabet stamp from Hero Arts to stamp the inside sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I had fun creating it! I hope you try your hand at making a card based off a book - it's pretty fun! Thanks for stopping by!

Get Well

Hi all. I was enjoying sitting on the deck reading 50 Shades Darker but it started to rain. Not complaining: we need the rain...and I needed to take a break from Mr. Grey. (LOL!)

This is a card I made for Mojo Monday #249.

Here is the sketch:

I've been trying to incorporate more stickers and bling from my stash on my cards, and this sketch helped. I used dp from MME (Lost & Found - Union Square). The stamp sentiment on the front is from Hero Arts and on the inside from Unity. The flower sticker is K&Co. The bling is from Recollections; black dots by Colorbok. Card stock is Bazzill and Core'dinations.

I made this for my Aunt who just had hip surgery last week, but is doing quite well. ♥

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a great evening!

Got Cake?

Hi all. As usual, I'm posting at practically the last minute to get this card entered for a challenge. I'm entering this for both the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #162 and for the Color Throwdown # 200.

and the inside. (sorry, the picture came out really bad, even with the editing!)

Here is the sketch and color challenge:

Again I'm using scraps mostly for this card. The stamps are from Inkadinkado. I colored the critter with Marvy Uchida markers. The flowers are from Maya Road (green gingham), Sandy Lion (orange and blue) and the pink felt flowers are from Blumenthal Lansing Co. I used twine from Doodlebug and the dies are from Spellbinders.

Well, got to go. Mr. Grey is calling! LOL! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sail away with Sparks!

Good Morning! I'd like to share with you a card I made for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge: Designer Drafts.

Here is the inside of the card:

Here is the sketch:

This sketch just reminded me so much of a sailboat so I took that idea and ran with it. (or, sailed with it!) Not only is there alot of paper piecing, but there is alot of masking too! I used stamps from 5 sets on the front of the card: seagulls from Get Outta Town; the H and U from Circle of Honor (atten-shun!); the b from Good Gab (blessings); the heart from Hubby & Wifey (I masked half the heart to create the 2 and drew the bottom with a marker); clothesline from Pip Squeaks (the stripes in the sail). I love the idea that the sentiment on the front also doubles as the registration numbers on the boat! LOL!  The inside sentiment is from Metropolis. Plus I used a bunch of paper scraps to make the boat. (Yeah, that paper scrap pile just got smaller!)

This was such a fun sketch to work with. I hope that you play along too! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Mojo Monday # 248

Hi all. It's been a while since I've blogged. My life has been hell this past week. Many of you were hit by that super storm from the Friday before last. We were too. We lost power for a few days and on top of that, our basement flooded. Again. Two times in two months, both on holiday weekends. It's a record for us truly. Needless to say, we have power again, and our basement has been dried, anti-bacterial-ized, cleaned, and all furniture that was moved (like the computer) has been put back. Here's hoping that the next big holiday will be flood free!

Anyway, here's a card I made for the Mojo Monday challenge #248.

and the inside:

The sketch used:

I pretty much kept to the sketch, but I incorporated the flower into the main panel design. I used paper from MME's Everyday Tango line. The stamps are from Unity (Quiet Essence set, sentiment from the March 2012 KOM) I stamped the image on green and paisley papers and fussy cut. The flowers I stamped twice and used foam squares on the second set to adhere over the first set of flowers. Ribbon is from Morex Corp.

Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment. I love to hear from you! Have a great rest of the evening!
