I had been making cards featuring birds

lately, but I needed to build up my

stash of guy cards, so I switched

from birds to beer:

Beer mugs, weathered wood paper, and a diamond plate embossing

folder certainly fit the bill for a guy card, IMHO.

A couple more sentiments finish the inside:

It's a lazy day here at Chez Dring. The hubs is

catching up on his Z's, so I decided to make a card

whilst he snoozes. LOL!

 

 and the inside:

I'm playing along with the current Let's Squash It challenge #9.

The prompt is to use both a nature themed embossing folder

along with water coloring of some kind. I dug in my box-o-embossing-folders

and rediscovered this Leafy Branch EF by Cuttlebug. I started by

rubbing Peacock Feathers DI directly onto the EF, giving it a good

spritzing of water, then ran the water color panel through my

Grand Calibur. I let that dry then smooshed some Fossilized Amber DI

onto my craft mat, and using a water brush, gave the embossed image

some shading. I wanted the panel to be the star of the show, so I heat embossed

a simple sentiment in gold onto a strip of black card stock, adhered, and added

a smattering of rhinestones to finish it off. 

This was a lot of fun to do, and I want to experiment with other embossing

SHOPPING OUR STASH #198 - Texture Me

Hello peeps and happy Tuesday to you! We have a fun new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! This week we challenge you to use your oldest embossing supply! Whether that be an embossing folder, or powder, or even a stylus and brass template, it's up to you. (See? Choices!) I grabbed one of my oldest embossing folders to create this card:

 and the inside:

I did more of a debossing on my background panel. I smeared an ink pad over the design, (not so*) carefully placed the panel inside the folder, and ran it through my Grand Calibur. I also went around the edges with the ink pad. I snipped a little bit of burlap and adhered. I rummaged around and found this pretty purple ribbon that I've had for at least 15 years. (*koff hoarder koff*) There are two rows of it layered on top of the burlap. Stamped the sentiment, adhered, then added the dimensional dragonfly sticker. Another sentiment and sticker finishes the inside.

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #7 - Y is for Your Mama!

Good Morning and happy Saturday to you all! Today starts another challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! The next 2 weeks are brought to you by the letter Y, as in Your Mama! Mother's Day in the States is on May 11th, so we'd like you to make a Mother's Day card!

(Doesn't Edna look all happy and cozy, taking a bubble bath

in her boots and glass of wine at the ready?! LOL!)

Here's the card I made:

The inside of my card: 

I just love the way this card came out! That background was made by using an embossing folder and Distress Inks! Soooo easy to do! Here's the link of the video tutorial I found if you want to see how it's done. Before getting inky, I first made a frame using washi tape on the main panel. After it was dry, I pulled off the washi tape, then stamped the flowers, dragonfly and Mom in black, framed it with some pink card stock and popped that up on my card base. I also added some rhinestones under the word and on some of the flowers for a bit of sparkle. Another sentiment with one of the flower stamps finished the inside. (I know, there's no snark on this card. I just couldn't bare to snark up that gorgeous background! But the next challenge....watch out! LOL!)

It's not a bad thing....

Good morning! I've been MIA for a bit. I've been slowly cleaning and rearranging my craft room the last few days. (Too much stuff; not enough space!) Almost done but for a couple things to find places for. I did get to make a card last night. I'm entering this for Shopping Our Stash #124 and Simon Says Stamp - Halloween challenge:

Yeah, I know, I thought I was done with the Halloween cards, but there are still some great challenges out there, plus I really wanted to use this stamp! After stamping and coloring with Spectrum Noir markers, I went around the edges with Spiced Marmalade DI. I just love that sentiment, and how the stamp is made to look all distressed like that! :)

When Pigs Fly..../PS Sparks-Aug. Designer Draft

Guess what? I made a card and am entering it a couple days before it's due. Instead of the hour before on the day it's due. Please don't fall off your chair. ☺ This is for the current Paper Smooches Sparks - Designer Drafts challenge:

Look! Pigs CAN fly!!! With the help of a kite! LOL! I stamped, colored and fussy cut that cute little piggy. She's adhered with foam squares, as well as the kite. I carefully cut around the pig's mouth with an X-Acto knife so I could fit the twine under it. It sort of worked. Like she's holding onto the kite tail with her mouth. But just in case she wants to squeal in joy, she's also holding on to the it with her front hoof!

You may have noticed that there's not a picture of the inside. That's because I didn't finish it yet. (Gasp!) I couldn't decide if this was going to be a birthday card or a congrats card, so I left it blank. I'll stamp the inside when I send the card out. Easily done!

MFW - Trendy Triangles challenge/Simon Says Stamp - Triangle challenge

Good Morning all! I was getting crafty yesterday in the ol' craft cave, and I came up with this little number for the Moxie Fab World's Trendy Triangle challenge, and the Simon Says Stamp Triangle challenge:

A pinwheel made from layers of triangles? Get Out! No Way! Yep! Way! Woo Hoo! Fun with geometric shapes! LOL! There are some really awesome entries for these challenges. I hope you get to play along too!
