SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #31 - J is for Just Kidding

Good morning all! It's time for a new challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! This go around, we'd like you to get Edna to laugh and make a funny card! (Just look at her face - good luck with that!) Here's my card:

 and the inside:

Of course the snarky punch line is on the inside - that's how I roll! (and don't we all do this? I mean, who has time to clean the house when you want to make cards?! LOL!)

The sentiments are actually one stamp, but I did some masking to get the punch line on the inside. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. So now it's your turn to make a funny card. We'd love to see it, so please link it up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Do make sure to visit my Sisters and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks and have a great day!

I'd like to enter this at Nacho Average Challenge #135

Some cards to share...

Good afternoon and TGIF! Today I have a few cards to share: two of them I actually submitted for publication. Obviously they weren't picked. I haz a sad. (See Lindsey, I TOLD you I was gonna use that phrase at some point! LOL!) The last I made just for fun. Check it:

...and the inside:

I had this sentiment in my mind to pair with that image ever since I saw the movie Twilight. Finally did something about it! I printed the sentiment from the computer onto some DP, die cut the scalloped circle off the edge and adhered with foam squares. I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the image also adhering with foam squares. Added a few enamel dots. (Disclaimer: The enamel dots were in no way meant to be thought of as blood drops, just pretty embellies! LOL!)  I just now thought of that while typing this post! Duh! (facepalm) Anyway, here's the second card:

Yep, punch line on the inside of the card! HA!

I really suck at making my own card designs. That's why I use sketches. A lot. But I love my inside sentiment, again printed from my computer. (My brother-in-law should be receiving this card in the mail today! LOL!) I die cut the dino, stamped and colored him, added Glossy Accents to his eye and adhered with foam squared on top of two Bam Bubble dies.

Ok, last one:

...and the inside:

This card came together probably within 10 minutes. (I know. It freaked me out too. Usually, it's like 2 hours minimum for me to make a card.) What made it so quick was that I already had the card base and the wine glasses cut. They were just sitting on my desk waiting to be used. Found that scrap of teal card stock, trimmed and adhered, then the glasses were added with foam squares. Rounded one corner, stamped the sentiment, finished the inside and done!

Thanks for staying until the end of my long winded post! It's still raining here in my neck of the woods. Still.  I'm seriously thinking I may have to get crafty in another way and start building an ark if this rain doesn't move off the coast soon. ☺

Hope your weekend is a crafty one! Tootles!

Happy 40th Birthday/DDWS#9

Good morning and hello my friends! I've been MIA these last couple of weeks due to back to back vacations. First a girls weekend with the ladies I play pool with. Then our beach vacation, which happily included both of my sisters joining us for part of the week. OMGee we had soooooo much fun! Lots of laughing, eating, goofing off, drinking wine, and just enjoying our time together!

See? We are a goofy bunch! LOL!

We all live in different states, and even though we talk/text on the phone all the time, it's rare that we get together in person. This vacation was an especially precious time for me!

Ok, so enough about me, time to show you the card I made using the current Dahlhouse Designs Wanna Sketch #9:

Here is the inside:

I based this off of this sketch:

I flipped my card on it's side but otherwise I didn't stray too far from the sketch. I've used these stamps before, and had to ink them up again. One of my cousins that I've recently gotten back in touch with just turned 40, so of course I had to make a card for her! LOL! She shares our same goofy sense of humor so she'll appreciate it! The sentiment works perfectly with the paper bag die from Paper Smooches. After die cutting it, I crinkled it up, ripped the edge a couple times then went over it with Vintage Photo DI to make it look, well, old! LOL! I tucked the 40 Thickers inside the bag just enough so that you know what they are. Stamped that most excellent inside sentiment (lurves me a great punch line inside my cards!) and was done!

I hope you get to play along with Lisa's Wanna Sketch #9 challenge! This is another one of her sketches that I'm going to be using again and again!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a great day! I leave you with a parting shot:

Colby, our beach loving fur baby!

2013.../Sweet Sunday Sketch #184

Hello my lovelies! I hope that you had a relaxing Sunday today. Andy and I went to see the movie Oblivion today, and if you are SciFi geeks like we are, I definitely recommend you see this movie - it's fantastic!

Anyhooo, onto a card I'd like to share with you all. I based my card from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #184:

Here is the inside:

and the sketch:

I followed the sketch pretty closely this time. I have two nephews and one niece who go to the same high school and are all graduating this year. (and 5 total graduating this year from high school and 2 from college. Apparently, it was a fertile year for our families when those 5 were conceived! LOL!) I used the school colors and mascot again for this card. Instead of the banner, I used a diploma sticker that I had in my stash. (It feels good to finally use what you have hoarded, doesn't it?!)

Well, that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by and hope you get to play along with this challenge! Have a great evening!

Happy and Sad....

Hello and Happy Friday! This is my second post today after misplacing my mojo all week. Sheesh! I want to share a couple cards with you that I made, not for any current challenge, but for specific people in mind. Here's the first card:

and the inside:

I used an older sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch (#15), for the front of the card. I just love this sketch and will probably use it again from time to time. Just love the simplicity of it! I have a niece who is expecting her second child in July and knows she's having a girl, thus the girly card! I got these Tim Holtz hanger clips a while ago and thought it would look cute to hang the little dress on it! Love how this turned out!

Ok, now for card #2:

the inside:

On the flip side, I have a friend who just lost his mother and wanted to make a sympathy card for him and his family. After cutting my main panel to size, I masked and stamped the sentiment first. I then used a bunch of different stamps from the Recollections set to stamp around the edges. Some are stamped directly from the ink pad, some are stamped off first on some scrap paper before stamping on the panel. I stamped the butterfly on some more designer paper, fussy cut, adhered and added some rhinestones for the body. Finished the inside and was done.

It was a strange day. I made the baby card, then about an hour after finishing it, found out about my friends mother passing and immediately made his card. I don't know how to feel about that. It's like polar opposites.  Or some kind of zen thing. I don't know.

Well, anyway, I'm off to go make a salad and top off my wine glass. ☺ I hope that you have a great evening and a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Waving Hello.../RS#57

Good Morning and happy Tuesday! I thought for sure Spring was finally here. We've been enjoying warmer weather these last few days, but that didn't last. We are back in the 30's this morning. BLEH!!! So, to give Spring a not too subtle nudge, I made a card that is all about warm weather. This is based off the Retro Sketches #57 sketch:

And the inside:

Here is the sketch:

Except for swapping out one of the larger rectangles for a sailboat, I stuck to the sketch pretty closely. I made the white wave paper using the wave stamp in the set and three different colors of ink. The sailboat is paper pieced using bits of scrap paper. I even Googled how to tie that knot in the cord! LOL!

I hope you get to play along with this challenge, because it's a fun sketch to try! Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you have a fabulous day!
