I think I found my mojo again...

...but it took screwing up my back to do it, apparently.
Hi there. Let me explain. Back in my 20's, I screwed up my back, and had
to go through PT to help with a pinched sciatic nerve. Since
then, every so often I'll turn or twist a certain way and, BAM!
My back is hurting again. That happened yesterday morning.
Standing and walking sucks, but sitting is tolerable, so
to my craft room I went. For the first time since
last Saturday. I decided to use some of my NBUS items
that I've been hoarding. Here's what I made:

here's the inside:

The rose stamps (NBUS) are of the layering variety. (4 inks for the flower, 3 for the leaves)
I'm still trying to figure out layering stamps. These were the best stamped
flowers I made. (I stamped 3 of each) By the time I got to the leaves, I just
used all the ones I made. LOL! (And I fussy cut them all out
since I don't have the dies yet.)

That gorgeous blue background paper is also NBUS. First time opening up
that paper collection. I drew and cut out a diamond shape, inked the edges,
and ran it through a handwriting embossing folder. The
sentiment was heat embossed in white onto some black card stock.
After I adhered everything, I remembered I had some tiny pearls (also
NBUS!) and sprinkled some around the card. Stamped the
inside sentiment and called this done!

That's it for now. To those who celebrate, I wish you a Happy
Passover and a Happy Easter!

  1. You nailed the layering of these beautiful roses and leaves, Chris! Sadly, I've got two left thumbs when it comes to using them, so I'm very impressed! It's a beautiful card and the "letter" background you cleverly made gives this a vintage feel. The pearl punctuation finished it perfectly. This is a card the recipient will treasure! Thank you for using a ton of NBUS and sharing with us at NBUS! Take care, stay safe, and Happy Passover / Easter to you!! Hugs, Darnell

  4. GORGEOUS! I am not a fan of those who find layering stamps *easy* so we can still be BFFs. :D Although they look fabulous to me! This card has such a beautiful vintage feel. So glad you linked this up with us at Seize the Birthday!

  9. I hope your back is much better by now and you've got your mojo back!! We've been in lockdown in New Zealand for nearly 4 weeks and even though I finally have time to craft, I haven't wanted too, isn't that always the way!! Those roses couldn't be stamped more perfectly (I struggle with the layering ones too....) and think the leaves look fantastic. The background paper is so soft and pretty and your so good with your drawing and cutting, I'm jealous!! I'm so glad you shared this with us at The Flower Challenge and please stay safe!

  10. I came over from NBUS to say congratulations on having your gorgeous card featured Chris. Those layered roses are so detailed and beautifully fussy cut. I'm just sorry you had to injure your back to get your mojo back!
I see from your profile that you are a golden retriever dog mom. I am too, although more of a dog mum as I live in the UK! They are such special dogs aren't they. Eva sends Colby lots of wags :)

  11. Just saw your card being featured at the NBUS blog. It turned out so pretty, and your lovely flowers make me want to have a go at some of my layering stamps. Like you, I'm finding it not that easy to layer them up correctly, but I suppose it takes practice.
Hope you back is better by now.
