SHOPPING OUR STASH #254 - The 4 Elements

Hello crafty peeps and welcome! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we want to see what you create using one (or more) of the 4 elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water! Here is my card, using the fire element:

 and here is the inside:

I can't take credit for this idea. It was the brainchild of my hubby! LOL! I just took it and ran with it! I used a star stencil and pressed a VersaMark pad directly to it, sprinkled silver embossing powder then heat set it. It came out really messy, but I kinda liked it so I used it. The sentiment is computer generated. On the inside, I stamped the bottom row of candles. I didn't get full coverage on one of them so I tried to stamp over it, but I didn't line the image up perfectly and it gave a blurry image. DOH!!! So what I did was stamp over a few other candles, to achieve the blurry effect, like I totally meant to do that! I outlined all the flames with a yellow Spectrum Noir marker.

Now it's your turn to create something using one (or more) of the 4 elements! We look forward to seeing your creation in the Shopping Our Stash gallery. While there, please check out what my teammies made for your viewing pleasure and leave them some bloggy love! Speaking of teammies, we have four new members joining our design team starting in June! Welcome Stacey, Mimi, Maria, and Cyndi!! Glad to have you aboard!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope that you have a great day!!

woo freakin hoo

Hello and good Sunday morning crafty peeps. I'm popping in with a quick card I'd like to share. Ready?

 And the inside:

I broke down and decided to purchase a couple of the Grumplings sets from Taylored Expressions. I love these little animals with their sour puss expressions! LOL! And it doesn't hurt that the sentiments lean toward the sarcastic side. ☺ The circle underneath this grumpy bear is popped up with foam squares, as is he.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope that you all enjoy your day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #60 N is for NOT a Card

Anything but a card?! Oh crap! That's not my strength! LOL! That's right snarky peeps, that is our newest challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! Lucky for me, I purchased this cool pinwheel box die that was on clearance at Spellbinders at the end of last year (or was it the beginning of this year?), and promptly stored it away and forgot about it. Until now. Shew! Here, check it out:

I couldn't decide which picture to go with, so I used both. This is a tiny thang. Like, the size of your palm. But it was fun to put together. Even came with the tag die! (I just traced around the edge onto some black card stock and fussy cut so it had a frame) I picked images of mostly potion and bottle labels from some G45 papers. (quinine pills, there's one that says death, Witch hazel jelly, a couple creepy heads, oh yeah, good stuff!) And of course, I went with a totally cutesy, heartfelt sentiment on the tag.... (wink wink nudge nudge)

So now it's your turn to crank out something amazing that's not a card, and link up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! For more awesome inspiration, please do check out what my Sistahs of Snark created for your viewing pleasure, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for stopping by! Happy Memorial Day to those celebrating!

Good morning and welcome! This time around at JUST US GIRLS is Photo Week. Lisa is your hostess and she's found this fabulous photo for you to be inspired by! Here's how I interpreted it:

 Here's the inside:

I was inspired by that sunny yellow wall paper, the subtle pops of pink and green around the desk, the shape of the lamp, the flowers, the yellow hanging bins, and the splash of black on the chair legs. Ok, pretty much everything in this photo spoke to me! LOL!

Now it's your turn! How does this picture inspire you? We'd love to see how you interpreted it in the Just Us Girls gallery! SHOPPING OUR STASH #253 Square Roots

Hello and good morning! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we challenge you to go back to when you first started out crafting: decoupage, cross stitching, scrapbook layouts, altering found things, etc. You get my drift, right? We challenge you to make anything BUT a card!

For my project, I used some recycled cardboard and made a bookmark:

I trimmed a piece from the board, punched a hole in one side, then stenciled it with a couple different inks. I dumped out a bunch of sequins from my bag-o-sequins, and dug out the silver ones, then glued 'em on. Found some ribbon that I won years ago, but don't think I've ever used, and finally did use it! My bookmark needed a little something more, so I stamped the 'hi' outline stamp, then filled it in with a silver pen. Worked for me!

I do hope you play along with our Square Roots challenge at Shopping Our Stash! For more amazing projects, please do check out what my teammies created, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

JUST US GIRLS #344 - Color Week!

Good morning and welcome friends! It's Color Week at JUST US GIRLS! Sue is your hostess this week, and she's picked PLUM, OLIVE and IVORY. (Neutrals are also welcome for this challenge) Here's my card:

 And the inside:

If you visit the JUGS blog, you'll see that most of the creations by my teammies have flowers on them. Me? I saw these colors and thought Christmas! LOL! (I'm way behind making Christmas cards, so I'm trying to catch up some) Super simple card. Well, mostly. The rhinestones started out clear, but I used a couple Spectrum Noir markers to color them. That took the longest. LOL!

We hope that you have some time to join us for color week at Just Us Girls! Do yourself a favor and please check out what the design team and our May Guest Designer, Aileen, have created. Such incredible projects! Remember, if you are picked at Chic of the Week for any of our May challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of July! You Can Dance....

Hi all. Just a quick post about a card I just made. Trying to compose this post and watch NCIS. Oh, Dinoso! I. Can't. Take. It!

 Here's the inside:

You know, after painstakingly picking out the two shades of green sequins in the big-bag-o-sequins, it occurred to me after I sealed the shaker that a silver sequin snuck in there. Sigh. Oh well. I still like how this shaker card came out. ☺

And now, I will continue to mourn Tony Dinoso leaving NCIS. Sniffle.

SHOPPING OUR STASH #252 - Sounds of the Sea

Hello and good morning crafty peeps! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we want to see some type of ocean/beach/fishy/seaside scene on your projects! Simple, right? Here's what I came up with:

 Here's the inside:

Yep, that's right. Santa is on a tropical island, preparing to catch some of those tasty waves on his surfboard! LOL! After lightly sponging around the main panel with Tumbled Glass DI, I added the wave sticker, trimming to where I needed it to be and also carefully peeling up the glittery wave froth and repositioning them to fit the panel. I fussy cut a bit of kraft paper for the sandy island, edged with Walnut Stain DI and scribbled little bumps with a sepia marker.I even tore a bit of kraft paper inked the edges and adhered over the bottom of the surfboard, so it looked like it was stuck in the sand and not just hovering. After coloring everything with Spectrum Noir markers, the lights on the palm trees and Santa's hat have Crystal Stickles added for a bit of sparkle, and the shades have Glossy Accents applied to them for shine.

Close up of sparkle and shine

I hope that you get a chance to join us at Shopping Our Stash! We'd love to see how you interpret this challenge! While there, please do check out the amazeballs creations that my teammies came up with and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #59 F is for Fugly

Hello crafty peeps, and welcome! We have a new challenge starting today at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! F is for Fugly is the theme this time around. (Fugly, as in F%@king Ugly!) Time to break out those heinous papers, those grotesque stamps, those abominable embellishments, and make a card or project with them!

For my card, I used some fugly paper to make a big flower:

 Here is the inside:

I wanted to showcase both sides of this paper, because in my eyes, the patterns/colors are awful. I even found an ugly silk flower from my stash! (the orangey one) I layered it with a couple more flowers and attached it to my paper flower with a brad. I tried to pretty up the card with that butterfly die cut and the sentiment (from a NBUS stamp set I won a few months ago!) Even the inside sentiment saw ink for the first time on this card. (Can't believe I've never used that one before.) I used another non-loved bit of paper for the strip at the top. (Kind of reminds me of a really bad carpet pattern from the 70's) The butterfly body is die cut using the back side of it. It's good to use your stuff! My design is based on the now ended Retro Sketch #214. (Missed it by that much!)

So, now it's your turn to use your fugly craft supplies and make something with them! Just link up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers so we can admire it! While there, please do check out the amazingly gross creations by my Snarky Sisters, and our newest Guest Designer, Creepy Glowbugg, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

JUST US GIRLS #343 Trend Week

Hello and welcome crafty friends! It's Trend Week at JUST US GIRLS! Judy is your hostess this week and she's picked VELLUM as your trend! Here is what I created with vellum:

I went crazy with my layers, and I love it!! I die cut the fancy, swirly frames using velum, I also stamped and fussy cut the banners onto vellum. (My MISTI came in really handy to curve and line up the words in the banner!) The solid frames were die cut from both silver glitter paper and white card stock. The main image and the heart were stamped in silver ink, the banners in black Staz On ink. If you haven't figured it out by now, I have a milestone wedding anniversary coming up: our 25th on the 25th of May! This I will give to my hubby. I'm just hoping he doesn't sneak a peek on my blog before then. (I don't think he reads my blog, so it's all good! LOL!)

So, ready to break out and use that vellum you've been hoarding? Of course you are! Be sure to link up your project at Just Us Girls so we can see it! While there, please do check out what my teammies and our May Guest Designer, Aileen Ryan, have created. Wow, these ladies have some major talent!

Let's Celebrate!

Hello crafty peeps. It's Friday! Woo hoo! It's been raining for what seems like 40 days and 40 nights here on the east coast. What better weather to be creating in the ol' craft room?! I've made a card and it fits a few challenges too!

 and the inside:

Yes I know some of the splotches don't match the card stock I used for the drink. In hindsight, I should have mixed a bit of abandoned coral in with the picked raspberry ink. I bet that would have worked. (face palm) It's all good though, since I've given this card to my friend (and pool team captain) and she loved it. So there. LOL!

That's it for me. Short and sweet this time around. Thanks for visiting!
