SHOPPING OUR STASH #273 - A Color Challenge!

Hello friends, and welcome! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we have a color challenge! Here is your color pallet to work with:

Here is the card I came up with using these colors:

Once I remembered that I had these leaf dies, this card came together pretty quickly. (and yes, I used a too dark brown instead of a light brown. Oops) I die cut a frame using two of the Deckled Rectangle Nesties, and adhered it on an angle. Then I stamped the sentiment, using my MISTI. After die cutting a bunch of leaves, I just glued them here and there until I was done. I added some clear sequins for a bit of shine. I think the part that took the longest was adding the sequins. I must have spent at least 10 minutes alone moving them around, trying to decide where to put them. Am I the only one who has this problem?

Fright Night

Hello crafty friends. I sincerely hope all of you who, like myself, live on the eastern seaboard of the United States are safe and well from the terrible effects of hurricane Matthew. Where I live, we just squeaked by getting hit. We only had a bit of rain yesterday, but today, even though the sun is starting to come out, it's very windy. Bizarre to think I was just on vacation a couple weeks ago, at the beach in North Carolina.

Ok, so onto why I'm blogging today. (a rare event) I made a card just for fun last night, and of course, the challenge I'm entering it in is about to close so, here is my card:

Can you believe that I've had this light up sticker for at least 3 years, and it still works? And get this, the packaging said it was from 2010!!  All my paper panels were distressed and black soot Distress Ink was added around the edges. I love that background paper. It looks so 'back in the day', but if you really look closely, there are spiders mixed in the design! Awesome!

JUST US GIRLS #364 - Trend Week

Hello and welcome back, crafty peeps! This week at JUST US GIRLS, it's Trend Week! Sue is your hostess and she's picked the hot trend that is PINEAPPLES! I don't own hardly anything with pineapples, but I did find this designer paper, so that's what I used for my card:

Since pineapples have a tropical vibe, I die cut a hibiscus flower, along with a few leaves. And of course, my sentiment had to follow that tropical theme! LOL! It's stamped with alpha stamps, and heat embossed in white on a strip of black card stock. Some rhinestones are the finishing touch.

Jingle Belles/Shopping Our Stash co-blog post to celebrate (GAH!) Pink Christmas!

Hello crafty friends! The gals from SHOPPING OUR STASH are honored to again join in with the JINGLE BELLES to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. That's right, it's time for

(GAH!) PINK CHRISTMAS!!!

In her own words, here is what our SOS teammate and Jingle Belle, Lauren, has to say about this awesome challenge:

What is it?

A challenge to make and link *PINK* holiday cards in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Where is it?

 At midnight!

(technically, at 12:01 AM EST on Friday, October 7th)

Whom does it benefit?

Lauren and Stephanie (aka the Jingle Belles) are each donating $2 per linked up card to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 

How many cards can I link?

As many as you want, there's no limit!

What if I don't celebrate Christmas?

You're welcome to make pink Hanukkah, pink Solstice, pink Kwanzaa or pink New Year cards instead.

Does my card have to be ALL pink?

Nope! But it should be noticeably pink. So there should be more than, say, the blush on Mrs. Claus' cheeks, if you see what we mean?

What's with the "(GAH!)"?

Our friend and fellow papercrafting blogger, Leslie Hanna (aka the Crooked Stamper) passed away last December. Each year, Leslie was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the event... which was pretty cool, seeing as how she really REALLY did not like the color pink, at all. A fact she wrote about quite hilariously on many occasions. So it's a bit of a tribute, and a way to have her with us in spirit!

So now that you know what it's all about, here is the card I came up with for this amazing challenge:

Everything on this card is at least 3 years old, except that dainty ornament die, which I bought earlier this year, and am just now using. (SMH) I die cut it in water color paper, then using a stamp block, scribbled the colors of Marvy Uchida markers I used to color it. (with a water brush) After it dried, I slathered on Crystal Stickles. The sentiment was heat embossed using silver EP. This turned out great, I think!

I love how this challenge not only brings to light Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it also pays tribute to our friend and SOS founder, Leslie Hanna, who passed away last December. If you followed her blog, The Crooked Stamper, you'd know that she couldn't stand the color pink, and always referred to it as (GAH!) PINK!. Her witty, sarcastic humor was what drew me to her. She was an amazing crafter and friend, and I miss the insanely funny email conversations we had. She is, and will always, be missed. ♥

SHOPPING OUR STASH #272 - Duck, Duck, Goose

Good morning to you, crafty friends! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we'd like to see birds and/or feathers on your projects. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!! Here's my card:

I love this sketchy bird stamp. It's colored using my Spectrum Noir markers, and popped up on a die cut/embossed circle. The paper I used for the top panel is meant to be leaves, but I thought they could also be feathers too. I was extremely happy to find that ribbon in my stash, which matched perfectly with the color in the paper! I edged the circle die cut with gold ink, and to add some more gold accents, I colored several rhinestones with a gold SN marker before adhering them on my card.

Hello snarky peeps and happy October to you all! Holy crap, where did the year go?!!! I'm sure most of you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and also Halloween is on the 31st. So Edna and the Sisters at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS are, for the 3rd year, challenging you with: P is for Pink Halloween!! Here is what I came up with:

Clowns are, for me, incredibly creepy. Color them pink and add a skull, and you have the makings of an American Horror Story episode! LOL!

JUST US GIRLS #363 - Word Week

Hello crafty friends! Can you believe it's already October?!!! Where did the year go?! I swear it was just April a couple days ago. Geesh! Anyhooo, it's Word Week at JUST US GIRLS and Sharyn is your hostess this time around. She's picked the word LEAVES for you to be inspired by. You know you all have stamps/dies/DP/ribbon, etc. with leaves on them. Time to get them out and have fun making something awesome! Here are the two cards I've made:

I used some more of my hoarded stash!! Woo hoo! I bought this cutting plate earlier in the year and I finally used it. I started with two panels of white card stock, and smooshed them into various inks on my craft mat. After I dried them with the heat gun, I die cut the leaves and glued them onto their card bases. I use kraft and dark brown for my bases. After stamping the sentiments (heat embossing one of them), I used decorative scissors to trim one side. One was wrapped with twine, the other I adhered over some gold floss, both received some sequins for a bit of sparkle.

SHOPPING OUR STASH #271 - Apple for Teacher

Hello and welcome crafty peeps! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we want you to make a Teacher Appreciation card, OR use fruits or veggies on your card or project. Because, that's how we roll! LOL! Here's the card I came up with:

I knew I was going to use that sentiment, but needed a bunch of grapes to complete the image I had in my head for my card. Enter free clip art on the Google! That grape bunch is free clip art that I printed on the kraft panel, then colored using Prisma Color pencils. I used a white Gelly Roll pen for the highlights. I stamped the sentiment then doodled around it and the grapes. I know it looks wonky. but I wasn't going to re-do it, and, that's how I roll! LOL!

JUST US GIRLS #362 Photo Week

I've been challenging myself to use stamps I've had for ages, and never inked up. These pumpkins are one of a gajillion I've yet to color. I used Prisma Color pencils to color these cute pumpkins, and framed them with some punched vines.

SHOPPING OUR STASH #270 - Fairies and Angels

Hello all, and welcome! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we challenge you to use fairies or angels on your card or project. Since I have a slew of fairy images, that's what I went with:

I've had this digi for a while, but it's the first I've colored her. I had everything colored except her dress, and was trying to decide what color to go with. Either red or green would be too overpowering, I thought. I considered gold. Then my hubby came into my craft room and suggested sapphire. (face palm) Sometimes the hubby is sooooo brilliant! LOL! Here's a close up, showing the Stickles on the wings, the flower centers, and the berries on the arm band.
