Hello crafty friends! Can you believe it's October now?!!
Where did the year go?!
The great news about it being October is that the new challenges start
up again at STAMPlorations!
Shery has done some reorganizing over the summer break, and the
theme and sketch challenge is now the
THEME & PHOTO PROMPT challenge. You can use the
theme, the photo, or both as your inspiration!
theme, the photo, or both as your inspiration!
You can find all the details over on the main blog.
For my card, I've used the theme along with the photo prompt:
Stamping onto black card stock would probably be much easier using
Distress Oxides, but I haven't any of them. (I know, what am I waiting for. I still
don't have the complete set of the DI's yet. LOL!)
What I do have are the Color Box cat eye pigment inks. I started by inking
each flower from the Trendy Spring Blooms set, first in Frost White,
then in each of the three colors I chose. (When stamping onto dark card stock,
stamping first in white will let the colors show much better instead of
just disappearing into the dark card.) A stamping platform like a MISTI
will be your best friend when doing this! After I let the panel dry (using
my heat tool, because I'm impatient), I stamped the outline stamps
in versamark ink and heat embossed in gold.
I filled in some of the open space using the two tiny flowers from the
Faerie Door set. A simple sentiment from the Balloons and Banners set
was added onto the panel using foam squares.
Ready to play along? Of course you are! Plus, there are crafty goodies
to be had to some lucky winners. Woo Hoo!

Creative use of your inks, Chris! I don't have all the colours of DI or D.Oxides either, and I'm quite happy mixing my inks on the "rubber" or the paper. A great take on the photo.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the colours on the black! (I've done the stamp white first, but so long ago I think I forgot you could do that. :D) Psst, check my blog in a few days to see what the oxides look like on black! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think not having all the possible inks and other crafty supplies just forces us to be much more creative with our crafting. But it is such a tempting thought to finish "the full set" of all the DIs and DOs, I keep a list of which ones I'm missing (a handful of the DIs but more than half of the DOs) and then think I will complete the set but at the same time, I have managed well with what I have so far so feel like I don't want to spend all that money... Anyhow, long preamble to say I think you have used the stash you have very creatively and your card is beautiful! I think the colours on the flowers look gorgeous and you can see so well how you were inspired by the photo prompt and added your own personal twist to it!
