SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #35 V is for Vellum!

No, your eyes are not going fuzzy. Our mascot, Edna is just showing you our new challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS - V is for Vellum! We all have it. Now it's time to use it in some way on your card or project! Here's the card I made:

 Here's the inside:

close-up of the pretty flower

My first attempt at using vellum for this challenge was a failure. I made pretty trash. So, after finding a great sketch, I set to work. I found a big-ish flower stamp that had never before seen ink. (NBUS!) I stamped the flower in VersaMark onto vellum three times, and heat embossed in white. I fussy cut them out, first the entire stamp, then the petals, then the inner petals. They are all layered on thin foam squares. On the top layer, I went over it with Diamond Stickles, then glued seed beads in the center. The sentiment was heat embossed in silver, cut with decorative scissors, adhered, then the flower over that. Some additional pearls scattered finishes the front. I'm sending this to my parents for their 58th (that's right - 58th!!) wedding anniversary that's next week! (That's why there is no snark. I just couldn't do it on this pretty card. ☺)

I hope you get the chance to play along in our vellum challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Please be sure to stop by the blog to see what my Sisters, and our guest designer Jane, have come up with to inspire you, and leave them some love on their blogs! Thanks for stopping by and now go forth and get your craft on! ☺

JUST US GIRLS #295 - Wild Card!

Hey all! There's a new challenge starting today at JUST US GIRLS! It's Wild Card Week, and the lovely Sharyn is your Hostess! She's chosen Paper Piecing as the challenge. Easy. Simple, Fun! Here's the card I came up with:

 Here's the inside:

So, being the oddball that I am, instead of stamping an image and paper piecing that, I decided to die cut the word, birthday, and paper piece that. Using mostly scraps (woo hoo!) I cut two in dark brown card stock, and the rest from 8 different scraps of patterned paper. I glued the two pieces of brown together, because I wanted a bit of dimension when finished. Then each letter next. (and now I have 7 more cards I can do like this! LOL!) Before adhering everything down, I embossed the front of the card, lightly inked the raised pattern, and stamped Happy and Dad. For the inside, I cut another panel to size, embossed, inked and stamped the sentiment before adhering to the base. (I just can't seem to do a one layered card. They seem so flimsy to me! LOL!)

I hope you get the chance to play along this week at Just Us Girls! I'd love to see what you came up with! Please be sure to check out the fantastic creations that the other ladies, and our May Guest Designer, Tenia Nelson, have come up with! This is Tenias' last week joining us. SHOPPING OUR STASH! #203 - Play Misty For Me

Good Morning all! It's time for a new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! This week we'd like you to break out your spray mists! Don't have any? No problem - just make your own! That's what I did:

 here's the inside:

I do have about 12 bottles of spray mist, but not in the colors I wanted to use. I took a couple Distress Inks and, one at a time, smooshed them on my craft mat, sprayed water over the ink and sucked up the mess with a paint brush. Then I just randomly flicked the brush to get the splotches on the card stock. Once dry, I assembled my card. (And covering up the panel I just made.) *facepalm* No worries, I had extra left so I used it on the inside of my card. You can see it much better there.

Want to play along? Of course you do! Just link up your card or project at Shopping Our Stash so we can see it! While there, please check out the amazing things my talented teammates created for your viewing pleasure and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Hello and good morning crafty peeps! Lisa is our hostess for Photo Week at JUST US GIRLS! Just look at that gorgeous photo she found to inspire you! Here's my take on it:

 here's the inside:

I drew my inspiration from so much in that photo: the white space, the pops of teal and orange, the wood floor, that cut out design in the window on the right hand side. (I even had an EF similar to the design! Woo Hoo!) My card is based on the now extinct Case this Sketch #122. (Yep, working ahead still and this post was scheduled a while ago!)

I hope you get the chance to play along for our Photo Week at Just Us Girls! I'd love to see what you create! Please be sure to check out what the other gals, and our current GD, Tenia Nelson, have created for your viewing pleasure. ☺ Remember that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of the May challenges, you'll be in the running for Guest Designer for the month of July. SHOPPING OUR STASH #202 - Silver & Gold

Hello all, and welcome to another fun challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! This is another milestone challenge for us, because May 24th marks our 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! Woo Hoo! To celebrate, we'd like you to use both Silver and Gold on your card or project. Here's what I came up with:

 Here's the inside:

As I was stalking Pinterest, I came across this card by Cornelia, and decided I had to CASE it. (Thanks Cornelia for the inspiration!) This is also an almost one layer card - a rarity for me as I LOVE layers on my cards. I die cut the wreath and bow out of silver glitter paper, heat embossed the sentiment in champagne EP and added tiny pearls to the wreath and a larger one to the bow. (In hindsight, I should have cut the bow from gold glitter paper. Duh. Oh well) The inside is stamped in Brilliance Galaxy Gold, then I underlined it with a silver pen (you might be able to see it if you enlarge the picture, but trust me, it's there.) ☺

So, break out your gold and silver embossing powders, your glitter/foil papers, and use them to make a card or project! Be sure to link it up at Shopping Our Stash so we can Ooh and Aah over it! While there, check out what my teammies created and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for hanging out with me, I hope you have a great day!

Adhesives: SA by 3L - tape runner, thin 3D foam squares; Scotch Scrapbooker's glue

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #34 C is for Cake

Hello snarky peeps! It's time for another challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! The next two weeks are brought to you by the letter C - as in CAKE! We want to see a cake on your card or project. Here's my card - check it:

 and the inside:

The snark has been sadly missing in my creations of late, luckily I found it hiding in the liquor cabinet. LOL! This was a relatively quick card for me to put together. (It helps if the paper collection has journal cards and alpha stickers *wink*) I found some puffy candle stickers hiding in a drawer and thus immediately came up with the sentiment. It really was meant to be. ☺

I hope that you get a chance to play along for our Cake challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! While there, please check out what my Sisters and our newest GD, Smilin Stef, have come up with to amaze you, and leave them some bloggy love! Also, as you read this, I'm in Illinois for a week or so to help out my parents. They don't have a computer (thus no internet) so commenting will be sketchy for me. But I'll do my best to catch up when I get back home! Thanks for stopping by, now go forth and get your craft on!

Supplies:
Stamps: Paper Smooches - Birthday Sampler
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black
DP & alpha stickers: Echo Park - Happy Days
CS: Darice
Accessories: K & Co. - candle sticker; Fiskars - corner rounder
Adhesives: SA by 3L - tape runner, 3D foam squares

JUST US GIRLS #293 - Color Week

Hello all! I'm hosting this week at JUST US GIRLS! Just so you know, I'm in Illinois for a week or so to help out my parents. They don't have internet service (since they don't have a computer) so it will be sketchy for me to comment, but I'll do my best to catch up when I'm home!

I'm not sure how the weather is in your neck of the woods, but out where I live we had maybe 2 or 3 weeks of Spring then BAM! Straight to Summer! LOL! That got me thinking (even more so) about the beach and swimming in the ocean. So I found this gorgeous place setting with a beachy/ocean vibe to it for Color Week! I've picked 5 colors to work with (you only need to use a minimum of 3 of them) plus any neutrals. While I was stalking looking on Pinterest, I came across this tag by Wanda Cullen, and I needed to CASE it! LOL! Here's my version:

I was able to use all 5 colors and my scrap pile has been slightly diminished! Yay me! I'm going to use this as a bookmark (when I'm sitting on the beach, with a glass of wine at hand, reading a good book!)

I hope you get the chance to play along for Color Week at Just Us Girls! I look forward to seeing what you create! Please be sure to check out what the rest of the team, and our GD Tenia Nelson, came up with to inspire you. Remember that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our May challenges, you'll be in the running as our Guest Designer for the month of July! Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #201 - Oldest Washi Tape

Hello and good morning crafty peeps! We have a fun new challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH! It's all about using your oldest washi tape! But of course, we give you options - you can use actual washi tape, or make your own faux washi tape, or use washi tape stamps! See? Options! I went with using not Washi tape, but painters tape for my card. (I mean seriously, isn't that what washi tape is anyway - designer painters tape?!) I found this tutorial while Googling and thought it was a fun idea, so I tried it:

I love the texture you get from using the tape as a stamp! I used four colors of Distress Inks for my card, plus a stamp I've had for over 3 years (And this is the first time it's seen ink. Yay me - I used my shtuff!)

Now it's your turn to break out that washi tape (or stamps) that you've been hoarding. We'd love to see what you've made - just link up your card or project at Shopping Our Stash! While there, please check out what my teammies came up with to inspire you, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for stopping by!

and the inside:

I used both on my card: the background is dry embossed, and the Happy Mother's Day is heat embossed. This was a fun card to create!

I hope that you get the chance to play along this week at Just Us Girls! Please be sure to check out the wonderful creations that my teammates and our May GD - Tenia Nelson, came up with and leave them some bloggy love!
