SHOPPING OUR STASH #208 - Baubles, Buttons and Bows

Hello crafty peeps! It's time for a new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! We are challenging you to use baubles, buttons, and/or bows! Now, we don't mean for you to slap a rhinestone or enamel dot on your card and call it done. Noooooo. When we say bauble, we are talking about a charm you've had for ever. Maybe a bottle cap. Perhaps you have an old brooch you've been hoarding for decades. Got a cool looking ribbon slide? It's time to use it! LOL! Now that I've explained what we mean by bauble, let me show you my card that has not baubles, but buttons on it:

 here's the inside:

I didn't have any teal buttons, so I colored a couple white ones with a SN marker, because that's how I roll. I used a much beloved and hoarded paper stack for this card. (Mariposa Stack by DCWV) I tried to do some selective die cutting with the hummingbird image. After a couple failed attempts, I think I finally figured out how to do that now. ☺(I love this stamp - if you look closely, it's actually butterflies made to look like a bird! Awesomesauce!)

So, time now for you to dig out those buttons, bows and/or baubles and make a card or project. Just link it up at Shopping Our Stash so we can see it! Please do check out the fabulous creations by the other gals and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #37 - W is for Wine!!!!!!

I believe Jessi had me in mind for this particular challenge when she came up with the list of them for this year - and I thank her! That's right, this fortnight the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS challenge you to make a card or project that has a wine theme! Ah, wine - my favorite alcoholic beverage! Ok, I'm getting thirsty, on with my card:

 Here is the inside:

It seems lately that every few cards I make have an alcoholic theme to them. (That's not a bad thing, surely) Anyway - look! A wine glass shaker card!!! I'm really embracing the shaker cards. (Good thing too, since I just ordered a bunch of seed beads on Amazon. LOL!) The papers I've had for a couple years but the dies and stamps are a new purchase. (When life keeps getting you down, retail therapy helps....a lot)

And wine.

Wine helps a lot too.

So, time to look through your stash of wine themed papers, stickers, stamps and dies and make something! Just link it up at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers so we can see it and for the chance to be crowned our Queen of Snark or Princess! When you're there, please check out what my Sisters and our newest GD, Vicki Dutcher, have created for your viewing pleasure. Oh man, they BROUGHT IT for this challenge! Thanks for stopping by, now go forth and get your craft on!

JUST US GIRLS #299 - Photo Week

Hello and welcome to the weekend! Woot Woot! Today starts Photo Week over at JUST US GIRLS! Maria is your hostess this week and she's picked this fun summery scene as your inspiration! Here's how I interpreted it:

As you can see, the gingham print and watermelon caught my eye and that's what I went with. My watermelon slice was made from die cutting 3 circles, adhering them together and cutting in half. Then I took a small wonky flower die to the edge and die cut to make it look like the slice had a bite in it! I hand drew the seeds with a black marker.

So how does this picture inspire you? We'd love to see - just link up your card or project at Just Us Girls. While there, please check out what the girls and our June GD, Ros Crawford, have come up with! Fabulous creations, seriously! Remember, if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our June challenges, you'll be in the running for our Guest Designer for the month of August! Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

A rose is a rose is a rose....

Hello and happy Wednesday crafty peeps! I made a card using a stamp that saw ink for the first time (YAY!) and also used some hoarded washi tape. (Or, as my friend calls it, wasabi tape!)

 here's the inside:

Some fussy cutting for the roses and popped up on different levels with foam squares. (although from the angle I took the picture, you cant' tell.) I ripped strips of washi tape and added them directly to the base on an angle, then die cut the wavy line from the top panel. Some rhinestone finish it off. This was a fun card to make, and I think I may use this sketch again in the future!

Ok, got to go and walk the fur baby now. ☺ Have a great day!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #207 - For the Boys

Hello and welcome! It's the start of a new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! This week, it's all about the guys: we want to see cards and projects with a guy theme! Here's the card I made:

 here's the inside:

Yes, I realized after I made the card that I just used that stamp only a couple SOS challenges ago. Let's just chalk it up to me showing you how versatile it is. (See what I did there?!) My favorite technique is the chalkboard technique. This just never gets old for me.  After making the main panel, I dug out some ancient copper brads and stuck them in the corners. I went around the edges of the base with walnut stain DI before adhering the main panel onto it with thin foam squares. Of course, there's a little snark on the inside. ☺

I hope to see you play along for our guy themed challenge at Shopping Our Stash! Please be sure to visit and leave some bloggy love on my teammies blogs. They made some fabulous creations for your viewing pleasure! Thanks for hanging out, and I hope you have a great day!

One layer cards make me itchy.....

I'm more of a clean and layered kind of gal, so this card (which turned out better than I thought it would - always a bonus) was indeed a challenge to me. Here, let me show you what I'm talking about:

 Here's the inside:

I sponged the corner of the card with distress inks and a wave stencil. After I die cut and glued the flip flop parts together, I sat there. Staring. Now what?

I had one helluva time trying to decide where the flip flops and sentiment should go. Does that happen with you? I swear I spent at least an hour moving the flops and the stamp around and around the card before finally getting (I think) an eye pleasing triangle, from the waves to the flops to the sentiment, back down to the waves. Ok, it's a wonky triangle, but it's there. Trust me.

Then, of course, I says to myself, "Self, this needs something more." So out came the Crystal Stickles. And the corner rounder was a nice finishing touch. ☺ I'm quite happy with how this came out.

Even if it makes me itchy.

Happy 4th

Hiya and hello crafty peeps! I got a couple cards made just because and here's one of them:

I used a neglected punch for the stripes and some grunged up papers to give the flag a more rustic look. I even took vintage photo DI to the blue panel to age it. After all the work I did layering the stripes, I didn't want to cover it up, so I stamped and die cut the sentiment banner out of vellum. With some strategically placed navy buttons, I adhered it with foam dots.

And now, for some patriotic music:

You're welcome for that ear worm. ☺ Have a great day!

JUST US GIRLS #298 - Color Week

Good morning all! It's COLOR WEEK at JUST US GIRLS! Ina is your hostess this week, and she's picked these gorgeous colors for you to play with. Here's the card I've made:

 and the inside:

I'm really enjoying using word builder stamp sets lately. (Especially ones with cuss words, although I went with a PG rated version for my card. LOL!) I did some retail therapy and purchased this abstract cover up from MFT. I love it! I cut it out of orange, burgundy, yellow and black card stock, then randomly pieced it back together. (and now I have three more cards to make using these colors!) After die cutting the tag, I stamped the sentiment and beer mug, then colored it with Prisma Color pencils. I used a couple word builder sets to make the inside sentiment.

I hope you get the chance to play along this week at Just Us Girls! Remember, that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our June challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of August! Please do yourself a favor and check out what the other ladies and our June GD, Ros Crawford, have made for this challenge. You won't be disappointed! SHOPPING OUR STASH #206 - Out on a Limb

Good morning all! It's time for a new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! As the prompt in the title suggests, we'd like to see you use trees, leaves, twigs, etc. on your card or project. Here's the card I made:

and the inside:

I based my card very loosely on the now over with Freshly Made Sketch #190. (Always late to the party - that's me. *sigh*) It just looked like a bird sitting on a branch to me, so that's what I made. (Although, this cute little birdie looks as if it's doing the Happy Dance on that branch!) I spent way too much time going through my paper collections looking for the perfect wood grained pattern. I finally found it though. I doodled the tree on the back side, cut it out, inked the edges to add dimension/shading and popped it up on some thin foam squares. The bird was stamped (for the first time!) colored, fussy cut and popped up on foam squares. The leaves I had die cut a couple weeks ago for another project that was an epic fail, but I saved them. (Somehow I knew I'd use them eventually) A couple more sentiments finish the inside.

So, ready to put those tree/branch/twig/leaf stamps or dies to use? Here's your chance! Just link your card or project to Shopping Our Stash so we can see it! Please be sure to check out what my teammies created for your viewing pleasure, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for dropping in and I hope you have a great day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #36 D is for Dudes

(I don't know about you, but this picture of Edna reminds me of
Mrs. Trunchbull from that movie Matilda! LOL!)

Mornin' snarky peeps! It's time for a new challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! With Father's Day approaching, we want to see what you create for the guy(s) in your life. It doesn't necessarily need to be for that holiday. Anything dude related will do! Here's the card I came up with:

 Here's the inside:

Ok, so if you haven't figured it out by now, I have a very sarcastic, punny, sense of humor....which I get from my Dad! So yes, this is being sent to him for Father's Day! LOL! Come on - who doesn't love a great flatulence card?!!!! That top hat guy was a crafty gift from my Sister Donna! (Look! I finally used some more of it!! You know, instead of hoarding it!) The stencil saw ink for the first time, and those alpha letters are so old, the glue on the back of them didn't stick any more. I had to dot the backs with Glossy Accents. But, I used up some more of my hoard of alpha stickers. Yay me!

So, now it's your turn to make a guy card. (Really, it's easier than it seems!) Just be sure to link up your card or project at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! While there, please check out the amazing things my Sisters, and our newest Queen of Snark and GD Susan, have created for your viewing pleasure! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

JUST US GIRLS #297 Trend Week

Hi there! It's time for a new challenge at JUST US GIRLS! Sue is your hostess this time around for Trend Week. She's picked a fun trend that is all the rage right now: Stacked Die Cuts! Here's the card I came up with:

 and the inside:

I was surfing Pinterest (again) and came across this Santa tag tutorial, using a soda can tab for the belt buckle, and I knew I just had to CASE it (but with my own spin to it...of course... ☺) I used black ribbon, silver brads, and added white 'trim' to the bottom of it. My sentiment was die cut 4 times: 3 in white and one in red. The white die cuts were glued together then glued off center onto the red one, for a bit of contrast.

Now it's your turn to play along! I hope to see what you created using stacked die cuts. Be sure to link up your card or project at Just Us Girls so we can see it. While there, please check out the amazing cards the other ladies, and our June GD Ros Crawford, have made and leave them some bloggy love! Remember that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our June challenges, you'll be in the running for our Guest Designer for the month of August! Good luck and I hope you have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!
