A Summer-y Birthday

Hello and happy Friday crafty friends!
I hope everyone is well and keeping safe during
this unsettling, crazy time.
In case you're in need of one, here's a big cyber
bear hug from me to you!

I've been missing my mojo the last few months. Sometimes on rare
occasions, like now, it will emerge for a day or two. Since it seems like it takes
me at least two days to make a card lately, I jumped at the gift of mojo
to make this card:

Here's the inside:

To the main panel, I first splattered some watered down Gesso and black paint,
and once dry, stamped the sentiment. I used a pineapple embossing folder to emboss
a panel of vellum, then carefully tore it for my background strip. I folded
it over the edges and adhered on the back side of the yellow panel. Wound
some hemp cord around it and adhered with foam squares onto the card base.
I stamped the hibiscus four times in versamark and heat embossed in gold.
On the back side I colored them in using CT2 & CR3 Spectrum Noir markers,
then added shading details with the Poppy Red Prismacolor pencil.
I cut a diamond shape then scored it for a bit more interest before
adhering the flowers with glue dots. The diamond panel is also
adhered with foam squares.

Another sentiment was stamped on the inside and the last flower added.
I LOVE how this came out! I really need to color on vellum more.
What a fun look it gives.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope that you have a great day!

  7. So pleased, Chris that you were able to join us at CAS Mix Up with your beautiful card using a Vellum dry embossed panel and heat embossed and colored flowers:-) It can be tricky figuring out a way to attach vellum with out the glue showing. Your folding over the ends and added twine sure worked for your dry embossed panel. The flowers were easier to attach. I sure know what you mean about your mojo coming and going during these months of virus anxiety and now mostly peaceful demonstrations. Thank you again for sharing your beauty. Stay safe and Creative. Hugs..Nancy

  9. Wonderful, happy card Chris. Starting with the yellow card base. Yellow is the happiest colour and so adorable with the splatters of paint and gesso. Your border of embossed pineapples is so fun and I LOVE that you tore the edge - so creative. Great colouring on your vellum flowers. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
