STAMPlorations January Theme/Sketch Challenge!

Hello and welcome crafty friends! I'm beyond excited to be sharing my first card as a STAMPlorations Guest Designer! Today is the start of the STAMPlorations January Theme & Sketch Challenge! Whether you choose play along with the theme, the sketch, or go all crazy like and use both, it's up to you!

For my card, I used both the sketch and the theme!

And the inside:

I started with a panel cut from the CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting die, and colored it using my Magenta Nuance powder dyes. Once that was dry, I stenciled embossing paste using the ARTplorations Tribal Swirls stencil. carefully removed and washed the stencil, and sprinkled gold embossing powder over it. While that was drying, I made a frame by cutting out a rectangle using an X-Acto knife in black CS, then die cutting the scallop shape around the rectangle using the CUTplorations ATC Tag Builder die set. (I must be the ONLY card maker on the planet that doesn't have a plain, basic rectangle nesting die set! That would have been soooo much easier to use!) I die cut and stamped the flower from the Buttercups and Butterflies stamp set and it's coordinating CUTplorations die set, colored it and added crystal Stickles to the centers. I heat embossed the tribal swirls, then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the Balloons and Banners stamp set. I backed the frame with vellum, and adhered it to my card with thin foam squares, then did the same with the flower. For the inside, I finished it with another of the rectangle dies and another sentiment from the same stamp set.

I do hope that you get some time to play along this month at the STAMPlorations January Theme & Sketch Challenge! For even more inspiration, do yourself a favor and visit the blogs of the Design Team and my other fellow Guest Designers: Helen and Jerrie, and leave them some bloggy love!

  3. So glad I was sitting down when I saw your card. You sure have taken off your Guest stint with a 'bang' at STAMPlorations. What you created here is a masterpiece. So many awesome elements to look at. Love the gold embossing - just makes your card 'pop' on that background. You really must get yourself a rectangle die lol even though you did a great job with that knife. Lucky you didn't cut your fingers eeek! Great work great talent my friend.
