SHOPPING OUR STASH #165: Chipping Away

Hello and good Tuesday morning to you all! It's time for a brand new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! This week it's all about chipboard: use something made of chipboard (Got an old collection of chipboard shapes?) OR make your own chipboard embellishment. (That's easy to do - cut up an empty cereal box!) Here's what I made:

and the inside:

There's a lot of going on here. What's the chipboard element? Why it's the spider in the center with the red ring. There's some old and new on this card. The old: The spider(s), designer paper, alpha stickers, and the web shaped photo corners. The new: a Smash stencil from Memory Box (that reminded me of an artsy fartsy spider web) and embossing paste. Yep, I caved and jumped onto that particular bandwagon. (I know, it took me long enough.) The EP started out as white, but I smeared Black Soot DI on my craft mat and plopped some EP on it, picked up the black soot and smeared that over the stencil. (Anyone else think that the Ranger craft mat is the best invention since sliced bread? I just wiped that mess off the mat after I was done!) On the inside of the card, after stamping the sentiment, I affixed the photo corners to the main panel and adhered to the card. That spider came with the corners, so I just had  to use it also!

And now, a close up of the front panel to show the texture:

Ok, so enough about me, what about you? Got chipboard? Go and use it on a card or project! Just be sure to link up to Shopping Our Stash! While there, be sure to check out what my teammates created to inspire and wow you! Now, go forth and get your craft on!

  1. Hi, Chris! I just loved this when I saw it on the DT page and seeing it again now, my enthusiasm for this design remains in tact. Your wonderful use of color, bold graphic text and tight composition has resulted in a visual treat. Very, very nicely done!

  2. LOVE the black embossing paste! I've made it the same way (with Black Soot Distress ink, or maybe it was the paint) and it's soooo easy. And yes, the inventors of that craft mat were GENIUSES!!!!

  7. ERMAGERD, that stencil! Totally spiderwebby! And I love how you did the tinting - I am constantly farting around with colouring the paste & usually end up with a runny mess. I've got to stop adding liquid!
