Father's Day part 2

Hi again, this is my second Father's Day card post. You can see the first one here.

This card I made for the May stack-a-holic card challenge at DCWV. Yep, that's right, Erin started a card challenge to go along with the layout challenge! Woo hoo! Here's my take on it:

and the inside:

Here is the sketch:

Since I was making a Father's Day card, I swapped out the big flower for some tags. I used the Regent Street stack for this card. I had to make a chevron template, but now I have one for future use! I cut out some tags, inked the edges, and tied them together with twine. I found a lock and key from my stash and tied those on also. The alphas are from American Crafts and the stamp is from Hero Arts.

Well, that's all I have for now. I'm going to go and enjoy a glass of wine on the deck! Thanks for stopping by and have a happy Memorial Day!

Father's Day card #1

Hi all, and Happy Memorial Day weekend to you. I hope that you and yours are able to get out and enjoy the long weekend. It's a lazy Sunday here so I cranked out a couple cards for Father's Day. The second card will be on another post so stay tuned! Here's a card I made using the Deconstructed Sketch #53.

the inside.

and the sketch:

So did you all make your Father's Day cards yet? Normally I'd wait until the last moment, but we are going on vacation soon, so I wanted to get these done before we left. All patterned paper is from Echo Park. Card stock is from DCWV (white and beige) and Recollections (kraft). I got out my Sew Easy and sewed around the major panels. For the tie, I downloaded some clip art off the internet and paper pieced it. I cut the circle with my Grand Calibur and the "Dad" using my Slice. The black dots are from Colorbok. The only stamp I used was on the inside (from Hero Arts). I love how this came out!

Stay tuned for another post: Father's Day part 2! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

21 years!

Today is my 21st anniversary of being married to my best friend and hubby, Andy. I love him to pieces and am so grateful that I was blessed to keep him for my own! In honor of this festive occasion, I made a card for him, and of course, I'm using it for a challenge! (hee hee!) This is for Freshly Made Sketch #36.

and the sketch:

All patterned paper, chipboard and brads from MME, floss is DMC, kraft paper is from Recollections, and the stamp is from Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you all have a fantastic Memorial Day weekend!

the colors, the colors!

Hi all! I have a card to share that I made for the Color Throwdown #193 and the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge #159.

the inside:

Here is the challenge and sketch:

As usual, I used card stock from Bazzill and DCWV. I've been making myself use older paper in my considerable stash. The orange flower paper is from MME and the striped paper is from Masterpiece Studios. The stamp on the front is from My Cute Stamps and the inside is from Inkadinkado. I used some paper scraps for the pennants, scoring the green one to give it a little somethin'. The tab is actually a journalling tag that I cut. And I used orange Washi Tape!  I need to get some more of this stuff! I paper pieced her kimono and used Smooches for the flower in her hair. She's too cute!

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Mojo Monday 242

Hi all! I have another card to share with you today. This one is for Mojo Monday's sketch #242.

...the inside:

The patterned paper is from We R Memory Keepers, card stock is Bazzill and DCWV, stamps are from Paper Smooches (I masked two stamps again to make the inside sentiment). I used the swiss dot embossing folder from Cuttlebug, the giraffe ribbon is from Offray, the twine from May Arts.

I made this for my brother, Jim and his wife Tina for being such a tremendous help the last couple of weeks. My Mom fell and broke her wrist and fractured the bone just below her shoulder and had surgery on the wrist last week. Jimmy and also my sister Laura took some days off work to be with my Dad and to help my Mom out for the last couple of weeks. (They all still live in Illinois while I live in MD) I wanted to send both Jimmy and Laura thank you cards for being there for my parents since the rest of us couldn't. (The thank you card on one of my last posts is going to my sister - I don't know what I'd do without her! And my husband and I will be going home to IL shortly so we'll be able to pitch in and help) I'm so grateful that they were there for my parents!

That's all I have for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Thanks ♥

Hi there. I'm creating cards at the last minute, again. One of these days I'll get myself organized. Anyway, here is a card I'm entering for the current Sparks challenge from Paper Smooches, and also for CAS-ual Fridays challenge # 53: use punches/dies.

the inside:

I used a few Paper Smooches stamp sets for this card: Simply Said (Thanks and Happy Everything); Circle of Honor ('for' from the thanks for your service stamp); and Hubby & Wifey (heart). I masked out the 'happy' and replaced it with the 'for'. I think it came out pretty good! Card stock is from Bazzill (white) and DCWV (yellow). The punch is from Martha Stewart and the bakers twine is from Doodlebug.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave me a comment. I read all of them! Have a great evening!

Kiss my bass!

How about that for a post title! LOL!

I made this card for the Stella Says Sketch challenge #110. I just discovered this blog challenge the other day and wanted to play along. Sorry about the lighting. I

and the inside of the card:

Here's the sketch:

I flipped it so I could use the Gus Fishing stamp set. I love all the sentiments in this stamp. I used versamark ink and stamped 'kiss my bass' on the brown background. (it's kinda hard to see it. Doh!)  I used my Marvy Uchida markers to color in Gus. (whadda ya know, I actually liked how it came out!) Those little fishing lures are from Sandylion.

Well, the wine is kicking in so I'm outta here! Have a great rest of the weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Change is good...

Good morning and happy Friday to you! I'll be starting a project on my honey-do list today, so I'm blogging early. Here is a card I made last night for Unity Stamp's Friend's With Flair and for the Deconstructed Sketch #52.

Ok, ready for this? Here it is!

and the inside:

I about fell off my chair laughing my butt off when I first saw this stamp set! The inside sentiment is from Unity's March KOM. I really took it out of context...and love it! LOL!

Here's the sketch. I followed it pretty closely.

The paper is from Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection. I even used the very last page in the collection (the beige card stock - hey, it matched perfectly!) I used G45 because they have an old world charm to their collections, "old" being the key word with this card (hee hee)

Well, I'm off to start scraping paint. The honey-do list never ends! Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

What's Up!

Good day all! It's Thursday and the weekend is almost upon us! I'm going to finally tackle scraping/sanding/and painting the facade around our front door. It's way past due, and since we are going to have beautiful weather for the next few days (meaning no rain) I'm gonna get that checked off my honey do list!

Here is a card that I am entering for two challenges. (I know, a rare occurrence: me combining challenges!) This is for the Runway Inspired Sketch #12 and for Card Patterns #165.

inside:

Love these bright colors on the white base. Here are the challenges:

I think, like alot of people, that the pattern on the bodice looks like a butterfly, so that was what I went with, plus all those bright colors on the neutral background. (I love this dress, it's gaw-jus!!!)

I'm going to go enjoy the day. Hope that you can too. Thanks for stopping by!

Deconstructed Sketch #51

Happy Wednesday! This morning I took my Golden Retriever, Colby, for a bath and to be shaved for the summer. He looks like he's half the dog he was, after being shaved. Plus it makes his head look huge, but he doesn't mind. He's alot cooler!

Yeah, I know the angle of this pic makes his head seem gargantuan, but it's still a great pic! LOL!

Here's a card I made for the Deconstructed Sketch #51.

the inside:

and the sketch:

I went all girly on this one. I like the white/black/pink combo. Card stock is from Bazzill and the Paper Co; paper is from Echo Park (black stripe). I couldn't tell you who the pink scrap of paper if from :(  Sorry! The flower was fussy cut from May Arts ribbon and the ric rac is from Simplicity. Stamps are from Hero Arts.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great rest of the day!

A little birdie told me....

Hi all. Hope your week is going well so far. I have been on the go for over a week now, and haven't been able to play in my craft cave until last night. I'm not complaining, there was a girls weekend at the beach to celebrate one of my sister's birthday. (It was a milestone birthday - we did it up right: lots of laughter, eating and drinking!)

Yep, we had a fun{stache}tic time! I drove back from the beach last Tuesday and cleaned the house the next couple of days since my best friend was flying in on Thursday for a long weekend. Googs (her nickname, and mine is Chrispy, thus my blog title!) aka Laura, is 5 months preggers and she is adorable!

See? Totally adorable! Little Momma and I had such a great time this past weekend. A lot of laughter and good times.

Now that you all have gotten a little peek into my world, let me show you what I was making last night. This is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #158.

the inside:

And here's the sketch:

The paper is from LYB. The bird stamp is Hampton Art, sentiment on front is Inkadinkado, and the stamp inside is Stampendous. The bird stamp has a sentiment on it that says "If the early bird gets the worm, I'd rather be late and eat cheesecake". I agree! ☺

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day. Thanks for stopping by!

Short and sweet

Ok, I'm under the gun to get this card entered for the Color Throwdown #191 and for the MFTWSC71. Here's my take on these two challenges. I was rushing, and this is DEFINITELY not my best work!

I kinda went with a CAS type card. Here's the challenges/sketch:

Again, not my best work, but sometimes less is more! Gotta run and get these entered then take my fur baby out for a walk in the rain! Yeah, the smell of Ode de Wet Dog is wafting around the house, and it's time to reapply! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Fishes

Yeah! We finally have a sunny day in the 80's! Woo Hoo! And what am I doing? Blogging! (but I was outside alot today. Just taking a break)

This card is for the Card Patterns sketch 163. It's been around for awhile, just a new blog site for me.

and the inside...

Here's the sketch:

I was going to use just 2 fish and add them centered over the ribbon, but it looked too wonky to me. So when I moved them off to the corner, I realized I could use them as the banner instead. Brilliant! I cut another fish out, used some foam squares on the back of them, and ta-da: fish banner! The fish and star fish were all die cut using my Slice machine and the Under the Sea cartridge. I masked the w in wishes and stamped an 'f'....very badly! Ugh! I despise when I do that! (and that was my second attempt too! I'll blame it on it being late last night when I was working on this card, and I was tired. Yeah, that will work! LOL!) Then, when looking at the scrap of blue I cut the fishes out of, I thought that would look cool on the inside of the card! (brilliant idea #2! LOL!)

The card stock is Bazzill and The Paper Co.; the patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye; ribbon is from May Arts (tan ribbon) and Hirschberg Schultz (blue cord); stamps are from Inkadinkado (birthday wishes), Fiskars (the f), and Hero Arts (inside sentiment).

Thanks for stopping by! Please let me know what you think of my card. I read all responses! Have a great day!

WHEEEEE!!!!

Hello all! This is my second post today. It's kinda crappy outside, I'm doing laundry (ugh!) and blogging! I worked on this card last night for the I Spy Sketch Challenge #13.

and the inside:

Here is the sketch:

As I was flipping thru my box-o-stamp sets, I came across this tree set and thought I'd use it, then cut it up into the smaller sections. (my artsy version of a triptych! LOL!) The card base is from Bazzill and all other card stock is from The Paper Co. I used Stampendous stamps for the outside of the card and the sentiment is from Inkadinkado. I colored the scene first with Marvy Uchida markers before cutting it up and mounting on black card stock. I used my Grand Calibur to cut the lacey oval, stamped the image and colored, then adhered that with foam squares. The only patterned paper I used is on the inside from HOTP.

Thanks for stopping by. I have to switch out the laundry now. Have a great day!

Sweet Sunday Sketch #157

Good afternoon to you! We are finally getting some warm weather out here on the east coast, but with it came rainy weather. Grrrr!!! (is it too much to ask for a sunny 80 degree day?) Since we have grey skies here, I used that as my inspiration for this card. I'm entering this in the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge #157.

The inside of the card:

Here's the sketch:

I followed the sketch pretty closely except switched out the flower for a cloud. I heat embossed the tornado, swirl, cloud and the sentiment on the inside of the card. Since I had a weather theme going on, I used papers and stickers in shades of grey. For a little pop of color, I used some red ink for the sentiment on the front and red paper on the inside.

Have you ever seen a sketch and immediately knew which stamps and paper to use? I had one of those "eureka" moments with this one. This sketch gave me the impression of movement by the wind, so I knew I was going to use that cute tornado stamp. All stamps are from Paper Smooches and paper is from Echo Park's Dots and Stripes Metropolitan collection. I even bought me some white embossing powder to use on the cloud! (woo hoo, now I have TWO embossing colors to use! That's right: Black and White! LOL!) I'm new to heat embossing so I'm taking it slow. But I can see this technique is really growing on me and I think I'm gonna have to get some more colors to play with!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope that you have a fabulous day!

Chris ☺
