STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday (Part 2)

Hello crafty peeps!
I'm back with my second installment of
I'm still having so much fun crafting with the new
Faces stencils, so this time around I've created another
card and a mixed media panel using the same three stencils:
First is the card I made:

After sponging black ink through the
Faces-Gorgeous stencil, I covered the panel with the Swirly Blooms
stencil, and sponged three colors of ink around one side of the panel.
I repeated the same for the other half of the panel with the
Dots and Dashes stencil. I die cut from black card stock and gold glitter paper
the Fearless word die, stacked and glued offset, and adhered to the card.

She really IS gorgeous!

For my other project, I made a mixed media canvas panel:

I. Had. So. Much. Fun. Making. This!!
Here's a photo process. Hope you have your favorite
beverage at hand. LOL!
I started with 5" x 7" canvas panel, and after the coat of Gesso dried,
I added a few different green paint colors with a brayer.

Next I sponged a light blue paint through the
Dots and Dashes stencil:

Over that I sponged yellow, orange and fuchsia paints through
the Swirly Blooms stencil:

While that was drying, I heat embossed the three flower images in black EP
from the Just Because stamp set multiple times. I realized that I needed  A LOT
more flowers than what I originally started with (in the next pics). I
wound up heat embossing each flower about 9 or 10 times.
I did a quick and easy water color technique where you swipe Distress Inks
directly to the paper, spritz with water, and leave it alone to do it's thing
while it dries. Then I fussy cut all. of. those. flowers!

I die cut an oval in some scrap paper and used the negative as a
mask to add beige paint in the cut out. I wasn't heavy handed as I
still wanted the pattern underneath to show through.

When that dried, I added black Gesso through the
Faces - Gorgeous stencil. This was an experiment, and I found out
that you have to go light handed with Gesso as it's not as thick
as embossing paste, and will run a bit (see lips). Luckily, what I
planned for the hair would cover most of my boo boo. LOL!

I stamped the sentiment from the Bold Sentiments-Hashtag Authentic
stamp set in black Staz On ink. Because of the texture of the canvas,
you won't get good coverage, but I fixed that by going over
it with a black Artist PITT pen.

The last thing was gluing all those flowers around her head to
become her hair. I just love how this came out!!

It looks adorable on a tiny easel!

You made it to the end! Thanks for sticking it out until the end!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #133 - N is for Nerd

Hello and welcome snarky peeps!
It's time for the next challenge at the
SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS!
This fortnight we want to see your nerdy creations.
Here's what I came up with:

and the inside:

This not-so-careful mad scientist has a sweet birthday wish on the
inside of the card. LOL! He's colored with Spectrum Noir markers, and
I've Winked the test tube and smoke poof for some shimmer. His glasses
also received a coating of Glossy Accents. To get his hand to look like he's
holding the test tube, I also stamped just his hand and fussy cut the three fingers to
glue over it.

Now it's your turn to get nerdy at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! Need

Kitty in a teacup

Hello friends and welcome.
I have a card to share, that I made for one of my neighbors.
She has two cats and loves drinking tea so this came about:

and the inside:

I've colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers, then used a couple
Prismacolor pencils to 'flick' fur onto the kitty.
Here's a close-up:

The 'gold' rim on the teacup and saucer, along with the flowers
were winked by Stella for a bit of shimmer.
That's it for now. Guess I'll go and do some housework.
LOL! Just kidding. I'll be in my craft room!
Take care, and thanks for visiting.

Playing with embossing powders

Hello and happy Tuesday to you!
I had a little play time in the ol' craft cave yesterday, and
wanted to share what I made. I tried a new to me technique
called layered heat embossing. This technique works great with
any of those layering stamps, of which I have maybe two: a peacock
and a Christmas tree. I used the peacock for my experiment:

here's the finished inside:

I don't think I've used my anti-static bag so much on one project ever! LOL!
And miracle of miracles, it worked for me!
Just look at all those layers of embossing powder:

I was happy to find that I had a couple of blue embossing powders to use.
The one I used for the solid body had glitter in it, as did the gold I used on
the tail feathers, so there's a bit of sparkle all over this bird!

This was a fun technique, and I hope to experiment with it again soon.
That's it for now. I'm going to go play in the dirt and plant the
flowers I bought on Sunday. Had to wait for decent weather first.
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!

Stencil Sunday at STAMPlorations (Part 1)

Hello crafty peeps and welcome. I'm excited to be joining in
the reboot of the STAMPlorations Stencil Sunday feature! Shery has
restarted this post to showcase all the fun ways you can
create with the ARTplorations stencils and masks! You'll be seeing
this feature every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday each month.
Today is my turn up at bat, and I have a card and an art journal page to share.
Grab your favorite beverage, this is a photo heavy post. LOL!

First is my card. I started by sponging various inks using the
Faces: Grace stencil:

(Late in the day isn't a good time to take photos. LOL!)

Using some scrap paper I created some masks of the hat and shoulders
and sponged a light blue ink through them.

I put the Clustered Hearts stencil under the masks and sponged a
darker blue ink through them.

After coloring in the background with a yellow marker, I sponged a
darker yellow ink around the image using the Dream Flower stencil. I
stamped the sentiment from the Just Because stamp set. I glued a gold
sequin as her earring because a lady needs a bit of bling, doesn't she?!!
Here's my finished card:

For my second project, I created an art journal page. I prepped the page
with a coat of Gesso and once dry I applied embossing paste through the
Faces: Grace stencil. Remember, you can flip the stencil over for a
mirrored look, which means yet another way to use the stencil!

I randomly added some paints to the page:

Once dry, I stamped a few images from both the

Finger painted a light coating of Gesso randomly.

I decided that I wanted the colors to show on her face so I painted
another light layer of the colors randomly over the page.

Using both the Clustered Hearts and Dream Flower stencils, I sponged
the same paints around the page.

I put the Faces: Grace stencil back over the embossed image, and
with my finger applied some Gold Rush Metallic Lustre over it.

Once it dried and I buffed it to show the shine, I cut a scrap of paper
to cover it and splattered watered down paint over my page.

I used sentiments from the Bold Sentiments: Hashtag Authentic stamp set
and stamped, incorporating second and third generation stamping around
the initial stamped sentiment. Here's what my
finished page looks like:

Congratulations for making it to the end of this photo heavy post! LOL!
