SHOPPING OUR STASH #288 - Days of Yore

Good Tuesday morning to you, friends! I'm your hostess this week at SHOPPING OUR STASH! For our challenge, we want to see your cards or projects that have an old world/vintage/distressed/shabby chic look to them. Here's what I came up with:

and a bit of snark on the inside!

I bet you thought this was going to be one of those mushy Valentine cards. HA! Fooled you!

Much of what I've used on my card is at least 7 years old. The DP, the rhinestones, the pearl flowers, all from 2008 or 2009! I think the stamp set I used is from 2010. Score! All the DP paper have the edges inked and distressed. The rhinestone flower stems and pearl flowers were frankensteined together from two different packages. (And I still have leftovers of both!) The sentiments were both on one line each, but I cut them in half-ish (Gasp!) and used my MISTI to line up the two parts.

So, ready to get your vintage on? I hope so, we'd love to see what you create at Shopping Our Stash!
This is Marina's last day as our Guest Designer. I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU for joining us this month. Your creations are amazing and I hope to see more of them in our gallery!

I'd also like to welcome Ina, of Little Bits of Craft as our February Guest Designer! I am looking forward to working with you (more!) and seeing what you create with the SOS Crew!

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a very enjoyable day!

JUST US GIRLS #378 - Photo Week

Happy Saturday crafty peeps! Today starts Photo Week at JUST US GIRLS! Nancy is your hostess and she's picked this adorable photo as your inspiration! Here's what I came up with:

 and the inside:

I created my flower cluster by first stamping and fussy cutting the daisy and ladybug onto masking paper. Then it was just of matter of stamping, masking, coloring and fussy cutting. Once I had the frame, doily and strip of black cardstock adhered, I used my MISTI to stamp happy birthday onto the card. The daisies are adhered with some thin foam squares. For a little sparkle, I added a few rhinestones.

I hope you get a chance to play along this week at Just Us Girls! We'd love to see how you interpret the inspiration photo. For more ideas, please check out what my teammies, and our Guest Designer, Shawna, have created and leave them some bloggy lovin!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #287 - All That Glitters is Gold

Hello crafty peeps! It's time for a new challenge at SHOPPING OUR STASH! For this week's prompt, we want to see GOLD on your cards or projects.
Here is what I came up with:

 and the inside:

I bought this stamp set last year and this is the first time I inked her up. NBUS! She's stamped directly to the front of my kraft card base, and colored with Prisma Color pencils. I accented the image by adding gold dots with a gold Gelly Roll pen. I then die cut that gorgeous flower frame from gold foil paper and glued it around the image. I sponged brown ink around the edges. On the inside, I cut a panel from kraft, stamped the sentiment, and sponged more brown ink around the edges, then dragged a gold ink pad along the edges also.

Now it's your turn to play along! Just link up your card or project at Shopping Our Stash so we can admire it! For more inspiration, check out what my teammates and our Guest Designer, Marina, created for your viewing pleasure.

Just a reminder: We are looking for Guest Designers! If you'd like to be considered for February, simply leave a 'DT' after your name when you link up. Easy peasy!

JUST US GIRLS #377 Color Week

Hello and welcome! It's my week to host over at JUST US GIRLS. It's Color Week, and I've chosen Pink, Navy, and Gray as your color palette. Here's the card I made:

 and the inside:

I started by embossing a pattern onto my gray card base. I die cut the scalloped layer from white glitter paper. (which is really hard to see in my picture, but trust me, this card sparkles!) The navy panel was heat embossed with the sentiment in silver before adhering to the glitter paper with foam tape. I die cut the blossoms, left the cut out in the die, and sponged over it with pink ink, adhered to the card, then dotted the centers with silver Stickles. On the inside, I cut another panel from the gray cardstock, stamped the sentiment, and edged the sides with blue ink before adhering.

I hope that you can play along in our color challenge at Just Us Girls! We'd love to see your take on these colors. For more inspiration, check out what the Design Team and our Guest Designer, Shawna, came up with. You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a great day!

STAMPlorations Theme & Sketch Challenge #39 mid-month reminder

Hello and good morning crafty peeps!
I'm popping in today with my reminder post for the

(Our definition of Mixed Media: using stamps and ink + at least two other elements
(techniques and/or products))

You can choose the theme, or the sketch, or both!
I went with both again:

 Here's the inside:

I started by die cutting the CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting die from water color paper. I painted yellow acrylic paint on it. While that was drying, I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Tropical Drink. When the panel was dry, I used the ARTplorations Gridlocked stencil and sponged orange and red inks over it. I spritzed some black ink onto the panel and once that dried, I stamped the sentiment from Fond Expressions 2. On the inside of my card, I cut another panel and stamped Happy Birthday from the Balloons and Banners stamp set.

I hope that you get to play along this month at the STAMPlorations January Theme & Sketch Challenge! You have until January 31st to link up. I hope to see your project in the gallery!

Also, thru the end of March, you can use my special discount code:

Technique-y Colorful Christmas Ornaments

Hello crafty peeps and welcome! Today I wanted to share a card I made (one of many) from a technique I tried using Lynne's tutorial. You should click on that link. She even has video tutorials on it! Here is the finished product:

 and the inside:

Sorry for the not so good photos. Sometimes my camera must add a bluish tint to the entire photo, and editing doesn't work. (And I was too lazy to retake the pics. *koff*) For my experimenting, I tried using what papers I had on hand. These particular ornaments were created from the TE Sugar Cube cardstock, which is 100lb. I also tried this using Canson Bristol 96lb paper, as you can see in this picture:

starting with the papers heat embossed with the ornaments

this is the Taylored Expressions paper

this is the Canson Bristol paper

I used different colors for each type of paper. I love how, depending on the paper you use, you get such different results on how the colors react and blend! Lynne wasn't kidding when she says that the paper will get soaking wet! At this point you want to handle them as little as possible, so you don't accidentally rip the paper. Just set aside overnight (or two) and let them dry naturally. (yes this was a project that took a few days to do, but the results are amazing!)

After the papers were dry, I set about fussy cutting the ornaments, then added crystal Stickles, because, glittery! The stamps I used had the hang-y thing built into the stamp, so what I did was take a paper piercer and pierced through to make holes. (once the Stickles dried) That way, I was able to tie the gold floss onto them. (a tedious thing that. I think I almost went blind from stringing these ornaments!)  I then took a smaller panel and embossed it, adhered 3 ornaments with different thicknesses of foam squares, and taped the ends of the floss to the back side. I heat embossed the sentiment in gold before adhering the main panel with more foam squares. Another sentiment finishes the inside.

If you find the urge to try a fun technique with your powder inks, I would highly recommend this! I'm going to guess that any type of powder inks would work. (Brushos, Color Burst, etc)

That's it for now. Thanks for visiting! I hope that you have a great day!

Hello and welcome! We have a fun new challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH - Fantastic Beasts! Anything from unicorns, Pegasus, Yetis, dragons, fairies, monsters, etc. we want to see it on your card or project. I had an idea pop into my head the other day, and I couldn't let it go, so I went with it. I present to you - the elusive Jackalope!

 and the inside:

Did you know that Jackalopes love birthday parties and cupcakes? This little guy looks a bit grumpy, probably because I caught him getting festive by hanging banners in the trees, (they like to keep a rough and tough image), and possibly sneaking a bite from that cupcake, before anyone sang Happy Birthday!

So, ready to play along? Of course you are! Just link up your fantastical beast card or project at Shopping Our Stash so we can admire it! Be sure to stop by the blogs of the Design Team, and our Guest Designer, Marina, to see what they created, and leave them some bloggy lovin!

JUST US GIRLS #376 - Trend Week

Good morning and welcome friends! Today starts Trend Week at JUST US GIRLS! Bobby is your hostess this time around, and she wants to see All Over Stamping on your card or project. Here's what I came up with:

 here's the inside:

Yes, I'm still making Christmas cards, but it will be one less I'll have to make come December! LOL! This was such an easy background to make: stamped the moose, then the lips, then filled in with the light bulb. I used a marker to trace around the moose, then did the same with the light bulbs, but using a lighter shade of grey. I couldn't resist adding the googly eyes to the moose! The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed in gold onto a scrap bit of black cardstock. On the inside, I decided to mask off the moose's smirk, then stamp those red lips instead. Stamped another sentiment and I was done!

This is such a fun trend, and I hope that you find some time to play along. Be sure to link up at Just Us Girls so we can admire your work! For even more amazing inspiration, visit the blogs of my teammates, and our Guest Designer, Shawna, and leave some love! Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great day!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #285 - Stickle Me Elmo

Hello friends and happy Tuesday! We have a new challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH! As our prompt suggests, we want to see Stickles, or a similar product, on your cards or projects. Here's my card:

 ...and the inside:

This card turned out totally different than how I first imagined it. I wanted to put a sentiment banner between the two groups of flowers, but I realized I left too much white space at the top of the panel. This also wasn't supposed to have bees on it. The bee under the word wishes is hiding an ink smudge. I couldn't have just one bee, so I stuck two more on it. Happy accidents, because I really like how it turned out. I used Star Dust Stickles and traced around the roses. the leaf veins, and the largest dot on the dot trio stamp. Even the bees came with glittery bodies! Bonus!

Now it's your turn to break out those neglected bottles of Stickles, Wink of Stella pens, SN Sparkle pens, or any kind of glitter glue, and create something with them! Don't forget to link up at Shopping Our Stash so we can admire it. For even more inspiration, check out what my teammies came up with and leave some love on their blogs. I'd also like to welcome our Guest Designer, Marina! I'm looking forward to crafting with you this month!

Thanks for visiting. Now go forth and create something fun and sparkly!

Just a reminder: We are looking for Guest Designers! If you'd like to be considered for February GD, simply leave a 'DT' after your name when you link up! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #75 S is for Stencil

Happy New Year snarky peeps!! I hope the holidays were good to you, and that your new year will be better than last year. ☺ Today starts the first challenge of the new year at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! For the next two weeks, we want to see what you create with stencils! Here is my offering:

I was lucky to be the random draw winner for the October challenge at Viva Las Vegas Stamps, and that sentiment was part of the bundle of stamps they sent me. (I tried out for their Design Team, but didn't make the cut. sniff. So I'm calling this a pretty cool consolation prize. *Grin!*) As soon as I stopped LMAO from reading it, I knew I had to use it on my card!

I stamped 'Midge' and the sentiment on the main panel, and masked her before sponging a few Distress Inks using the Rays stencil by Tim Holtz. Before I removed the stencil, I spritzed Pearl Glimmer Mist onto it. (You can't really see it in this picture, but it's there) I adhered it askew to my card base. I wasn't sure what to stamp on the inside, so for now it remains blank. (But really, how can you top that sentiment on the front?! LOL!)

Now it's your turn to break out those stencils in your stash and use them on a card or project. Be sure to link up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers so we can admire it! Want more inspiration? Then visit the blogs of my Sistahs, and our Guest Designer, Michele, and leave them some bloggy lovin!

Thanks for visiting! I hope you have a fantastic day!
