SHOPPING OUR STASH #280 - Paper Strip Art

Hello friends and welcome! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we are going to help you use up some of those paper scraps you are holding on to, by using the BARGELLO TECHNIQUE! Here's the card I came up with:

 and the inside:

The great thing about this technique is that there are so many patterns you can make from it! Think about it: cut up 4 or 5 different papers, change out the design per card, and wah-lah! Cool cards and you used up some of that hoarded paper stash!

We hope that you find some time to play along at Shopping Our Stash, and we look forward to seeing all of your cards in the gallery! For more inspiration, do check out what the Design Team came up with. Also, this is Cornelia's last post as Guest Designer with the SOS Crew. Thank you so much for joining us this month! You have an amazing talent and we hope to see more of your works in our gallery in the future!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you all have a great day!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #73 - U is for UFO (Unfinished Objects)

Hello snarky peeps and welcome! Our new challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS is called U for UFO - UnFinished Objects. That's right, time to look on your desk or work tables at all those bits and pieces of stuff laying around, neglected, and finally USE them! Got paper scraps? Dies you cut but decided not to use? Images stamped but yet to be colored? Here's the perfect challenge to find them a home on a card or project! I have a couple piles of unloved stuff on my desk: a container of paper scraps, off cuts, stamped images and dies I cut but didn't use, etc. I also have a container of panels I made with various inks/paints/powders and die cut panels I never used.

See?

It's pathetic, I know. So I riffled through the bits and pieces, and found a snippet of gold glitter paper and a die cut oval from red card stock. I found the back panel in the other container. So that's 3 things I used for my card:

 here's the inside:

Can you believe I've had that sentiment stamp for about a year, and I think this is the first time using it?! What is wrong with me! LOL! I die cut a smaller oval for the sentiment and colored the holly with Prisma Color pencils. Found some holly stickers in my Christmas stash and added them to the corners, stamped the inside sentiment and my card was done!

Now it's your turn! You know you have a pile (or two, or three) of unused stuff taking up space on your desk. Now's the perfect time to use some of it! Just remember to tell us what those UFO's are and link up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! For more inspiration, please do visit the blogs of my Sisters and our newest Guest Designer, Sue, and leave them some bloggy lovin! Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a great day!

JUST US GIRLS #371 - Photo Week

Hello and welcome crafty friends! Vicki is your hostess for Photo Week at JUST US GIRLS, and she's picked this fun photo for you to be inspired by! I realized when starting to make my card that I must have used up the last of my silver foil paper some time ago, and never replenished it. So it was purple foil and silver glitter papers for me.

 And the inside:

I die cut the snowflake frame out of the purple foil 3 times, then traced the frame onto the silver glitter paper and fussy cut. I used an embossing folder on the card front, then stamped the sentiment in silver ink, and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. The inside sentiment was stamped, and I went over the edges of the panel with the silver ink before adhering.

I hope you find some time to play along with our photo challenge this week at Just Us Girls! We'd love to see your take on the picture! For more inspiration, please visit the blogs of my teammates and our Guest Designer, Cecile, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #279 - Warm and Fuzzy

Hello and happy Tuesday to you! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, it's all about Warm and Fuzzies! For example, a fireplace, hats and mittens, hot cocoa, cute fuzzy critters, etc. Here's how I interpreted the challenge:

 Here's the inside:

I thought a cute fuzzy mouse tucked all warm into a stocking fit the bill. I stamped a few more stocking images onto the card base, and used a punch for the paw print border. That red paper is fuzzy too. I found a sheet of this velvety specialty paper by HOTP. It's the same material that red Christmas bows are made from! Score!

Now it's your turn to play along at Shopping Our Stash! Just link up your warm and fuzzy card or project so we can admire it. While there, please do visit the blogs of my teammates, and our November Guest Designer, Cornelia, to see how they interpreted this challenge, and leave some bloggy lovin!

JUST US GIRLS #370 - Color Week

Hello friends and welcome! At JUST US GIRLS, Ina is your hostess this time around for Color Week! She's picked TEAL, PURPLE, and GOLD as your go to colors. Here's what I made:

here is the inside:

I'm using some new craft goodies I recently purchased: that beautiful frame die and Magenta Nuance dye powders. I cut a square of mixed media paper with vellum, brushed it with water, sprinkled a bit of the purple and turquoise powders, then spritzed it with more water and watched the magic happen! I dried it with my heat gun when I liked the pattern, then repeated the process one more time. The die was cut from bristol paper, then I painted over it with gold acrylic paint. Because I'm crazy like that. And besides, it looks really cool! (IMHO)

Love this new die, it debosses as it cuts! So pretty!

I hope you get some time this week to play along at Just Us Girls! We'd love to see what you make with these colors! For more inspiration, please visit the blogs of the design team and our Guest Designer, Cecile, and leave them some bloggy love.

Remember, that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our November challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of January! Good luck and happy crafting!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #278 - Front and Center

Welcome friends! We have a new challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH - Front and Center. What the heck does that mean? Well, we all have bits and pieces of crafty things on our desks/tables that we started to use, then didn't. So those things are just sitting there, staring you in the face, looking forlorn, begging to be put to good use! Here's your chance. That is what we challenge you to do - to finally use those things! (Just remember to tell us what those things are! LOL!) Here's the card that I made:

 here's the inside:

So, these are the things on my desk that I finally used: I made that background panel 2 years ago, using Jessi's Faux Faux Patina tutorial. I made 4 panels total, one I used here, and another one here. I still have one more to use. (she says shaking her head) I also had three of those frames already die cut (I used the inserts on other projects), and lastly, I had the sentiment die cut in red card stock, but never used. I simply cut one more from red card stock and another one from foil stock. those were stacked and glued over the back panel. I used a tiny red rhinestone for the dot on the 'i' in the word Christmas, because there was no way I was going to try and glue three of those dots together! (Plus, I threw them out, so...) Another stamped sentiment finished the inside.

(shimmery/foil paper is really hard to photograph. Here's another angle)

So, got a bunch of unused, discarded items on your desk? (You know you do) Here's the perfect time to use them! Be sure to link up your card or project at Shopping Our Stash so we can see it. (and again, please tell us what the items on your desk/table are!) Looking for more inspiration? Then please visit the blogs of my teammates and our Guest Designer, Cornelia, and leave them some crafty love!

Just a reminder: We are looking for Guest Designers! If you'd like to be considered for December, simply add a "DT" after your name when you link up! Super easy!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #72 - Z is for Zentangle

Good morning snarky peeps and welcome! This fortnight, the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS is really going to challenge you - we want to see your ZENTANGLE creations! Don't freak out. If the Sisters can do it, so can you! I started out wanting to make a card, but it morphed into a mixed media plaque:

I started out with a recycled piece of cardboard, and punched a couple holes in the upper corners. Covered it with gesso, and once dry, stenciled the gridlock pattern randomly. When that was dry, I painted the entire thing with brown paint, then added copper and bronze paint here and there. (IRL this is pretty shimmery) While that dried, I traced large chipboard letters (so large, I couldn't fit everything on a card, thus the change to mixed media plaque), then set about zendoodling and fussy cutting them. I stamped Sherlock's head and die cut. I covered the letters and Sherlock's head with Matte Medium. While that dried, I found a small texture stamp and stamped around the edges on the plaque. I used Matte Medium to glue all the letters and Sherlock onto the plaque. I added some gears and a fleur-de-lis here and there, and finished with some wire to hang.

Need more inspiration? Then do yourself a favor and head on over to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers blog to check out what my Sisters and our Guest Designer, Jessa, have created to wow and amaze you! You won't be disappointed! Have some fun and play along!

JUST US GIRLS #369 - Trend Week

Hello crafty friends! This week at JUST US GIRLS, Bobby is your hostess, and she's picked METALLICS as your prompt for Trend Week! Here's my take on the challenge:

 here is the inside:

I started by stamping and heat embossing the holly leaves in green EP, coloring and die cutting them. Next I stamped the fa la la and heat set it in gold EP. Adhered the sequin trim, and popped the panel onto my card base. I used a few of the sequins to act as berries for the holly, then adhered it over the sequins with foam squares.

Now it's your turn. Break out that embossing powder, the sequins, those metal embellishments, etc. and make something! Be sure to link up your project at Just Us Girls so we can admire it! For even more inspiration, check out what the Design Team and our Guest Designer, Cecile have created and leave some bloggy lovin!

Remember that if you are chosen as Chic of the Week for any of our November challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of January! Have fun and thanks for visiting!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #277 Gobble 'til you Wobble

Hello crafty friends! We have a new challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH! With the American Thanksgiving Day holiday fast approaching, the SOS gals challenge you to make either a Thanksgiving Day or a Thank You card or project! Yep, choices! You'd think with that subtitle, I'd have made a Turkey Day card. Nope. A Thank You card it was:

 and the inside:

I won this paper pad and the accompanying tags 3 years ago? 4 years ago? And of course, I'm a hoarder, so I've barely cut into the paper. I used one piece of paper and one tag from the collection. It was rough. After I cut the patterned paper, I thought the card base needed something, so I used an Autumn themed background stamp with Antique Linen Distress Ink on it. I used some ancient string and some star sequins from 'I have no idea', that were screaming at me to be used, so I did. ☺

So now it's your turn. Have some fun and make a Turkey Day or Thank you card or project! Be sure to link up at Shopping Our Stash so we can admire it! For more inspiration, do check out what my teammies, and our Guest Designer, Cornelia, have made for your viewing pleasure. It would be great if you left them some crafty lovin on their blogs!

Just a reminder: We are looking for Guest Designers! If you wish to be considered for our GD in December, simply leave a "DT" after your name when you link up! It's so easy even a caveman could do it! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a great day!
