SHOPPING OUR STASH #28 - How Does Your Garden Grow

Welcome and good morning! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we want to see anything that could be found in a garden on your projects. Flowers, veggies, birds, butterflies, bees, etc. How fun is that?! Here's the card I came up with:

 and the inside:

I love it when I can make a dent in my stash, and I was able to use a bunch of dimensional flower stickers that I've been hoarding forever. Some of the packages were dated 2006!! Woo hoo! The lattice die is rather large, so my card measures 5" x 7". The stems were die cut from a wavy border die, cut twice very close together to achieve that. The leaves were die cut from three different scraps of green card stock. The grass was a pre-cut purchase by Jolee's.  The banner and sentiment were stamped in Versa Mark, then heat embossed in white and fussy cut. Even added a die cut cardinal!

So, what do you have growing in your garden? Why not make a card or project reflecting it and link up at Shopping Our Stash? We'd love to see it. While there, please check out what my teammies created and leave them some love on their blogs! Thanks for visiting!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #62 O is for Outer Space

Good morning snarky peeps! We have a new challenge starting today at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS: O is for Outer Space! That's right, we want to see your space backgrounds, or space ships, or moonscapes, etc. Just wait until you see the amazeballs creations of the Sisters and our Guest Designer, Sharon. OMG! Here is my take on the challenge:

 ...and the inside:

I think this was probably the hardest challenge for all of the Sisters. Most of us made pretty garbage before figuring it out. The galaxy panel was my second try. I used various inks smooshed on my craft mat, spritzed with water and randomly painted on water color paper. Once dried, I sprinkled gold embossing powder around it, adding those three bigger clumps. I took a stick pin and carefully made swirls in them to create my spiral galaxies, then heated the panel from underneath. The sentiment is stamped with alpha stamps. I found this hoarded gold holographic paper and used it to frame the main panel. (and yes, it's very hard to photograph, BTW) Here's another shot:

Now it's your turn to explore brave new worlds. To link up your project at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers! To go boldly, yada yada yada. LOL! Please do yourself a big favor by visiting the blogs of my Sisters and our Guest Designer, Sharon, and leave them some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

JUST US GIRLS #348 - Color Challenge

Hello crafty friends! It's Color Week and Ina's turn as hostess at JUST US GIRLS! She's picked Mustard, Turquoise, and Hot Pink as your colors to play with. Neutrals are welcome, but please use only these three main colors in your project. I decided to go all mixed media on my project:

I had a lot of help with this, as I totally CASED this tag by Corrie Herriman. (Thank you Corrie for the inspiration!) I used what I had on hand, embossing paste and stencil, Gesso, Distress Inks. Oh, the colors on the tag were very vibrant, that is before I fixated them with a layer of Matte Mod Podge, then they became more subtle. Oh well, at least the DIs don't come off at all. (wink) I basically followed how she made her tag, just using different stamps. I even doodled around the hexagon and bee stamps using a white Gelly Roll pen! I colored the creepy guy with Spectrum Noir markers using the three challenge colors. The sentiment was stamped and fussy cut. I went around the edges with the three DIs I used for the tag, before adhering them with foam tape. I cut a bit of hot pink ribbon with pinking shears and added for the final touch.

So how do these colors inspire you? Why not make something and link up at Just Us Girls so we can see it? While there, please check out the blogs of my teammies and our Guest Designer, Cornelia, and leave them some bloggy lovin! Remember, that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our June challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of August! Have fun and thanks for visiting!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #256 - Let Me Take a Selfie!

Happy Tuesday friends! We have a fun challenge starting today at SHOPPING OUR STASH! Since taking a selfie is a major trend right now, we thought we'd challenge you to create a Polaroid scene on your card or project! Here's what I came up with:

I started by stamping that Polaroid frame and masking around it with sticky notes. Then I stamped the gnome onto masking paper and fussy cut. I stamped the middle gnome, applied the mask over him, then stamped him again on either side. The sentiment I printed out from my computer before I colored the scene. The Polaroid is attached to the fluted panel with a heart shaped brad. LOVE how this came out!

Now it's your turn! Just create a Polaroid scene and link it up at Shopping Our Stash! Please do yourself a favor and visit the blogs of my teammates to check out their creations and leave some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS #61 V is for Vroom!

Welcome snarky peeps to a new challenge at the SISTERHOOD OF SNARKY STAMPERS! V is for Vroom - we want to see any kind of motor vehicle on wheels added to your projects. Edna is ready to burn rubber on her hog and hit the biker bars! LOL! Here's what I came up with:

 Here is the inside:

I've had this stamp for a number of years, and yes, this is the first time I've used it. The sentiment it comes with is good, but I was looking for something more....more. So I stalked jeep memes and found this:

Then I went about creating that 'muddy' background panel, using Becca's Distress Ink Dipping Technique. I used Iced Spruce, Shabby Shutters, Brushed Corduroy, and Gathered Twigs, making two passes in the inky mess on my craft mat. Once it was dry, it was a simple matter of printing out the sentiments on my computer and completing this otherwise CAS card.

Now it's your turn to haul out those stamps/papers/stickers, etc featuring motorized vehicles on wheels and make something with them! Just be sure to link up at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers so we can admire it! While there, please do check out what my Snarky Sistahs and our Guest Designer, Jane, have made to wow you, and leave some bloggy love! Thanks for visiting!

JUST US GIRLS #347 - Trend Week

Good morning all! We have a fun new challenge at JUST US GIRLS starting today. Nancy is your hostess for Trend Week and she's picked the Spotlighting Technique for you to play along with. I don't think I've ever tried this before now, but I'm certainly glad I did, since it was a lot of fun! Most of the ladies went with a floral theme. Me? I thought a big fish about to eat a little fish might be fun to spotlight. Here, look:

I'm (slowly) trying to use the stamps I've been hoarding for years. I think I scored this Dylusions set at Tuesday Morning for only $5.00 back in February, and it's the first time I've used it. The grungy alpha set I used I've had for over two years, still wrapped in cellophane. Gathering dust. I finally fixed that. (wink)  The spotlighted circle is colored with Spectrum Noir markers. Then I decided it needed some subtle waves, so I pulled out a wave stencil and carefully sponged Mermaid Lagoon DI around the images.

This was a lot of fun to do, so I do hope you find some time to play along at Just Us Girls! Do yourself a favor and visit the blogs of my teammies to see their projects, and also our Guest Designer, Cornelia, and leave them some bloggy lovin! Remember, that if you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our June challenges, you'll be in the running to be our Guest Designer for the month of August! Good luck and have fun!

SHOPPING OUR STASH #255 - Tea For Two

Hello crafty peeps and welcome! This week at SHOPPING OUR STASH, we'd like to see tea or coffee design elements on your projects. Here's the card I made:

 the inside:

I was using the now ended Freshly Made Sketch and Color Throwdown for my card. But since the CTD ended by the time this posted, I felt it ok to add a touch of red to my coffee mug**. ☺The back panel was cut from designer paper that I've had for years, then I stamped the coffee rings randomly all over it, stamping off first. The mug was stamped, colored with Marvy Uchida markers and fussy cut. Yet another stamp set I've hoarded and finally used! Go me! LOL!

Now it's your turn to break out those tea cups or coffee mugs, and make pretty stuff with them! Just link up at SHOPPING OUR STASH so we can admire it. While there, do check out the amazeballs creations my teammies made for your viewing pleasure! Thanks for visiting!

** I'm a tea drinker who made a coffee card. I don't even like the smell of coffee. Go figure.

I ruff you Dad!

So, Father's Day is coming up, and I wanted to make a card, from our fur baby Colby, to give to his Daddy. This is what emerged:

 and the inside:

How about that for a vibrant purple card?! The back panel was made using the Ghosting Technique. Something I've never realized had a name for. But it was a lot of fun to do, and it only took two tries to figure it out! LOL! I took Wilted Violet DI and smeared it directly onto the panel. Then used different stamps to randomly stamp with water, heat setting them right away. (a bone, a fire hydrant, and a heart with a paw print in it, same one used on the inside of my card) The doggie stamp was chosen because it looked most similar to my fur baby, being all long furred and always smiling. See?

My sweet boy!!!

He's actually a Golden Retriever/Chow mix, but he looks and acts like a Golden. Soooo playful!!

Anyhooo, I stamped paw prints in the corners, then doodled the outline around the doggie. A simple sentiment on the inside and I was done!

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you have a great day!!
