Horn tooting!

Hey all! Have you played along with CAS-ual Fridays challenge 72? The challenge is to create a card based on your blog header. I know! Right?! Such an awesome challenge! So, since I have a really generic (meaning: lame) header, and all the graphics are down both sides of my blog, that's what I based my card on.  I did use colors as close as possible to what's on my blog though. Here it is:

The challenge:

I apologize for the crappy lighting in my pics. I just took them, and even though I lightened them up, they still came out dark. I will probably re-take photo's tomorrow and edit this post, seeing as those main panels are white and look pinkish. Grrrr  (Note: The above pics are the re-dos! Much better lighting!) Anywhoooo, I took inspiration from the colors in my blog and the hummingbird and flowers. (Ok, so I didn't have any kind of hummingbird in my stash, so I just used A bird). Used my Slice to die cut the flower and bird. I really love how this came out! A bit of scrap designer paper, sentiment and a little rhinestone, and BAM! Done! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you get to play along in this challenge. It's such an awesome one! Have a great evening!

BOO!

Hi there and Happy Sunday! It's a beautiful morning here in Baltimore. Just enjoyed a cinnamon crunch bagel with hazelnut cream cheese from Panera and a hot cup of tea. Ummm.....Heaven!

So, I made another card last night. This is using the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketch challenge #54.

The inside:

Here is the sketch:

I love this sketch. I think I'll be using it again for sure! I used papers from Anna Griffin. I'm totally loving the bat paper. The bats are flocked! So cool! That big ol' Jack-O-Lantern dimensional sticker is from the collection also, and he's made of glitter paper! Sweet! The inside is just kinda slapped together. I die cut the wrong size scalloped circle in black for the front side, so I used this one and cut another in orange for the inside. (I hate to waste paper!) Die cut another label from off white paper with my Slice machine, added some alphas and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you have a great day!

I caved...and made a Christmas card

But how was I not able to resist these super adorable new stamps from Paper Smooches?! If you happen to be a member of their stamp club, you'll know what I mean. If not, well, sorry but you'll have to wait a couple more days for the reveal! (But don't worry. Time flies when you're having stamping fun!)

Here is the card I made for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.

The inside:

Here is the inspiration photo given to create from:

I REALLY love these colors! (and I wouldn't mind having this in one of my rooms either!) The soft blue and white and silver just yelled "Christmas card" to me so I went with it. I colored the tree by going all "Seurat" and dotting the markers to color and add highlights and shade. (You know that painting of the people in the park where the painter, Seurat, used dots to paint the scene? Well, that's kind of what I was going for here) I'm no Seurat, but I really like how it came out! Added that silver ribbon to represent the silver in the photo. And the clock? Well, it's Christmastime! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Complete randomness....

Ok, so here I am again. This will be a quick blog. I just wanted to share a card I made. No challenge. No sketch. Just a card idea I had in my head with a great punny punch line. (Well, at least I thought so.) ☺

LOL! I crack me up! I'm such a dork! ☺

Thanks for stopping by!

Lucky...

Ok. I'm doing the happy dance! I was just stalking, I mean, reading up on a lot of blogs I like to look at, and discovered that I was one of the winners at The Alley Way Stamps AND at Petaloo! Happy dance! Happy dance! Woo Hoo! (Being unemployed as I am, winning paper crafting supplies is a Godsend! Thank you Lord!) So, with that said, I made a card last night that I'd like to share with you all. This I'm entering in the Color Throwdown #211:

Here are the challenge colors:

I wasn't able to match the colors exactly, so I used colors as close as possible. (Good thing that that is allowed!) I love this inspiration photo. It is so gorgeous!

Well, gotta go make my potato salad now. I'm going all Martha Stewart style today and have ribs slow cooking in the oven. I smell them now and my mouth keeps watering! Making my Mom's potato salad and baked beans. Yummy!

Thanks for stopping by today. The world must be ending since I'm entering this only a day after they posted the challenge. (Usually I wait until the last minute! LOL!)  I hope you get the chance to play along with the Color Throwdown. Have a great rest of the day!

You're a hoot!

Well, here I am again. Today. Blogging. ☺ I made this card and combined a couple challenges: Freshly Made Sketch #53 and the Color Throwdown #210.

Here are the challenges:

Hmm. Looking at The CTD picture makes me think that the ink cartridge in my printer is going. The blue was alot more, well, blue on my print out. Oh well. ;) (My computer in is the basement, my craft room on the second floor. I get enough exercise by simply running up and down two flights of stairs to check things out. If I didn't print out the challenges, I'd be climbing up and down stairs ALL the time and would NEVER get anything done! LOL! I'm hoping Santa (a.k.a. my hubby) will bring me a nice little lap top for Christmas this year. Here's to hoping.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great rest of the day!

Good morning and happy Sunday! I want to share a card I made last night for both the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge and for Moxie Fab World's Gallon/Quart/Pint challenge.

and the inside:

Here are the colors for the Sparks challenge:

I used Paper Smooches Hullabaloo set for this card. I turned the cupcake into a triple scoop waffle cone! (More of a good thing is wonderful, right?! LOL!) This was also a great way to use up some more paper scraps - gotta love that! The green is my gallon; the pink is the quart; and the yellow is the pint.

Thanks for stopping by. If you haven't tried these challenges there is still time to get your entry in. As usual, I'm waiting until the last minute! Have a great day!

I'm going batty...

Good morning and happy Thursday! I have a card to share with you that I'm entering for the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge #167. I haven't participated in this challenge for awhile and really wanted to take a stab at it again.

the inside:

and the sketch:

It's amazing how my card comes together...once I figure out what paper to use. I swear I had this done within a half hour, but spent probably over an hour trying to figure out 1) which Halloween collection to start with and 2) which papers in that line to use! Grrrr! I did some more embossing on this card (and tried really hard to take a picture so that the embossing didn't reflect the light and show up white...as usual.)

Thanks for stopping by, and if you haven't already, try this challenge! Have a great day!

Sly fox...

Good morning all! If you live out on the east coast like myself, I hope that you fared well those crazy storms yesterday. I'm happy to report that we did not get ANY water in the basement! Woo Hoo!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!

So, since it was a dark and stormy night last night, I made a Halloween card. I'm entering this for the Retro Sketches challenge #29.

A detail shot to show the dimension:

And the inside:

Here is the sketch:

I had this white card stock scrap that already had one of the small labels die cut from it, so I die cut two more for the top panel. I added stickers and that was pretty much all she wrote. It came together pretty quickly. What took the most time was choosing the paper for the card base! (Does anyone else agonize over that?! LOL!)

I hope you get to play along with the Retro Sketches challenge! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

a little this, a little that....

Hey there! I was going through my card pictures and realized I never blogged about this one:

The inside:

detail shot:

I didn't make this for any challenge, just had this idea of the professor from Paper Smooches Smarty Pants set popping out of the picture frame all 3D-ish. This card has stamps from several companies since at the time I made this, I didn't have all of these elements from just one company. Doesn't matter to me. I adore how it came out! And, other than the Kraft card stock, I used scraps to make this. Bonus!

Hope you liked it! Thanks for stopping by!

Chris ☺

Supplies:
Kraft paper - Recollections; scrap
Stamps: Paper Smooches - Smarty Pants; Unity stamps (poloroid, balloons); Inkadinkadoo - sentiment
Ink: Tsukineko - Tuxedo Black

Bakers twine - Doodlebug

A girly card...

Hi all! Happy Monday! (?) It seems that I found my mojo and so I made another card last night. This is for the Deconstructed Sketch challenge #69.

Here is the sketch:

This was a fun sketch to work with. I used papers from the Hollywood Vogue line from Webster's Pages (gorgeous papers!) and two different ribbons from May Arts: the silky beige and that big flower. I cut a white flower out of the ribbon and misted it with aquamarine Glimmer Mist. Loved how this turned out!

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your day!

In homage to Scooby-Doo...

Hi there. Here is another card I made last night. This is for CAS-ual Friday's CFC70 challenge: to use black, white and one other color.

the inside:

I wanted to start making some Halloween cards, and for some reason the little eyes stamp reminded me of Scooby-Doo! I used Paper Smooches stamps from the Spookalicious set. Stamped and cut out both sets of eyes and the mouth and adhered. I was thinking that Scooby is in the dark with the big bad beastie sneaking up behind him, and he saying in a scared voice "Raggy?" I used alpha stamps from Studio G to spell Raggy. I drew stitches and the "shivers" around Scooby's eyes with a Gelly Roll pen from Sakura. This was another card that came together in about 15 minutes or less. A true record for me! (usually it's more like 2- 3 hours! LOL!)

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Chris ☺

Happy place

Hi all. We've had such beautiful weather this past week here on the east coast that it was really impossible to stay inside in my craft cave. We did yard maintenance instead this week. (Soooo glad that's done!) I have been sneaking up to make some cards though. Here's one I made for the current Sparks challenge from Paper Smooches:

and the inside:

Here is the sketch given to work with:

I have to say, this sketch was probably the hardest to figure out what to do with. I immediately thought of a pencil, but one of the DT members already snagged that idea. ☺ So I sat. And stared at the sketch. For ever. I'm pretty sure I was wracking my brain for at least an hour. Finally, I came up with this tropical silhouette idea.

I used Clear Snap ink in Canary, Marigold, and Orange and layered the colors on watercolor paper then used a blending stick to blend the colors more. I think it turned out so much better than I hoped! I trimmed it to the size I wanted and adhered it to the white panel. The stamps are from Paper Smooches Get Outta Town set. I took a scrap of black card stock and stamped the palm trees on the back side then fussy cut them out with the "beach". Stamped the sentiment, added a rhinestone and I was done!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Trying to find my mojo....

Hi everyone. Lordy, it's been, like, two weeks since I've posted anything. Well, last week we were on vacation at the beach (sigh, I miss it so...) and this week was so gorgeous every day that I just couldn't bring myself to go hide out for hours in my craft cave. Now, I think I've lost my crafty mojo. I did try making a card today, and it turned out so lame! I know I can do so much better than this. But, since today happens to be my birthday and soon my fabbo hubby will be home to whisk me off to a nice dinner, I'm going to post this card anyway. (Seeing as I won't be making any more cards tonight) Brace yourself:

and the inside:

I'm going to plow on and enter this for both Mojo Monday 258, and the Color Throwdown 209.

I used Unity Stamp's Harvest of Memories set and stamped three of the leaves in Memento Rich Cocoa, Rhubarb Stalk and Bamboo Leaves on the white panel. In hindsight, I should have double stamped those (stamp first on some scrap paper then again on my panel) so they wouldn't be so bold and bright. The paper and stickers are from American Crafts Night Fall collection. Oh! That reminds me! I was at Michael's today and spied a Recollections stack that was pretty much the same as the Night Fall collection. Did I miss a memo or something? I know DCWV puts out stacks under the Recollections name, but does American Crafts do that also? Or did DCWV and American Crafts merge? Inquiring minds want to know!

Anywhoooo, thanks for stopping by. I promise that I will do better next time, which I know will be tomorrow. Have a great weekend!

Chris ☺
